    Change – Chapter Sixteen

I mailed you to ask you if there was any way we could talk to each other confidentially. I just found out something that changes my entire life and puts the past few years in a completely different life. I don’t know what I should do, what is the right thing to do. I can’t talk about it to anyone else because it has to remain a secret and I can’t talk to Kit because despite the fact that I now live with her, I don’t have the feeling she knows me well enough to fully understand how this affects me.

I totally understand if you don’t feel like doing this, because you don’t want to or because you’re scared that someone will see us and talk about us and you might lose your job over some ridiculous person assuming things and not checking if they are real. Not that I think you’re scared. I mean, it’s not like I think you’re scared easily, or that I think you’re weak or something. I hope you don’t misunderstand me.

    Sincerely yours,

    B Porter

Tina smiled at the apologies because they were so typical of Bette, but the second paragraph made her frown her eyebrows. What could have happened? She was curious, but more importantly, it seemed to bother Bette and she wanted the girl to just have a nice holiday. She responded immediately.

    Bette,

you have to know that you never bother me. Whenever you feel that you need to talk to someone, I am always there for you. I don’t see why I would stop talking to you just because it’s summer now. Don’t ever hesitate to contact me when you need someone.

Every talk we have is confidential, as I am sure you know. I am free for the remainder of this week, just tell me when you’re available. I could pick you up for a nice dinner – or something else, whatever you like.

    Sincerely yours,

    Tina Kennard

She wondered if she should go back to Jesse now or wait for a reply. She knew she wouldn’t be able to concentrate on the movie as long as Bette hadn’t sent her another mail, so she decided to wait. She checked out a few sites, waiting impatiently. Sure enough, a few minutes later, a new mail popped up.

We truly understand how uncertain B&T feel, specially because of the age difference. BUT, we also believe that love is ageless. *huge grin* We are waiting anxiously for their Thursday encounter.
