Bette was up early on Monday morning. She walked Riley for about 20 minutes then headed to the gym for a 45 minute aerobics workout. She returned home showered and got dressed for work. Shane had been thoughtful enough to purchase some basic food items for Bette while she was away so she had enough to prepare a light breakfast before she headed to the office.

Bette didn’t have time the night before to go through her snail mail so she put everything in her briefcase to sort through later. She decided to call Emma before she left for work knowing the best time to reach her was early in the morning before her first appointment.

“Hey Bette good morning. Two weeks in a row you’ve brightened my Monday morning with a surprise phone call. What’s going on?”

“Hey Doc. good morning. No crisis this time. I just wanted to catch you before the day got too busy. It’s actually all good news this time.”

“So I take it everything went well with Angie.”

“Yeah she’s perfect and back to her old self again.”

“That’s good to hear. You sound extremely cheerful almost giddy. Is there something else you want to tell me?”

“Tina and I are back together, or at least we’re on the road to reconciling as a couple.

“Well Bette that is great news. A week ago you were lamenting about losing your chance with her because of Kate.”

“Well I was right about Kate. She’s in love with Tina.”

“OK start at the beginning. Kate is in love with Tina but Tina is back with you?”

“That’s right. Kate told Tina that she’s in love with her but she realized that Tina would never feel the same way, essentially because her heart belonged to someone else.”

“That someone else being you?”

“Yes, as a matter of fact. Tina admitted she was still in love with me. Kate was gracious in breaking up with her, and wouldn’t you know that it was Angie that finally got us to admit our feelings for one another.”

“How so?”

“Tina told her about the breakup with Kate. Apparently they had become friends and she was concerned about Angie’s feelings if she couldn’t see Kate any longer. Angie was upset about it but Tina gently helped her deal with. She seemed fine, but apparently after giving it more thought her deductive little mind determined that since I was single and Tina was too she asked why we couldn’t become girlfriends? The question threw Tina for a loop so she evades answering and sends me this cryptic text message at 10:00 at night telling me not to be surprised if Angie asks me to be her girlfriend. Of course now I’m thrown for a loop. I text her back immediately asking her to call me. I couldn’t wait for an explanation.
