(Bette) I’d imagine she thinks it’s a date
(Tina) Well she’d be mistaken. Anyway can we stop this?
They sit in silence for a moment, before Bette gets up and starts gathering her things.
(Tina) What are you doing?
(Bette) What does it look like?
(Tina) You’re being ridiculous
Bette continues gathering her belongings and heads towards the hallstand for her coat. Tina sits for a moment shaking her head before rising and following her. She takes Bette’s coat from her hands and throws it back towards the hallstand.
(Tina) Stop it
Tina steps towards her and places her hands on Bette’s hips.
(Tina) Baby, we’ve covered this, I have zero interest in Abby Richards
Tina runs her fingers through Bette’s curls.
(Tina) Can you please come back inside?
Bette looks at her and sighs.
(Tina) We never had this problem when we were together
(Bette) That’s because I trusted you. But trust doesn’t really come into this situation, does it? When we’re not anything to one another
She looks at Tina.
(Bette) It’s confusing
(Tina) I know
Tina steps closer and wraps her arms around her waist. Her eyes start to glisten as she talks.
(Tina) Please don’t storm out of here like this. I know it’s confusing, and I know our lines have become blurred. But I want you to stay. Please stay.
Tina reaches for her cheek and starts laying soft kisses on her lips, talking to her between kisses.
(Tina) Please baby. Please stay.
Bette sighs and looks into her eyes, while running her fingers lightly through Tina’s hair.
(Bette) Tee, I’m not storming out, but I am going to go. I need to clear my head.
Bette turns to leave and Tina lets her go. They share a look as Bette closes the door behind her.
A few days later, Sunday morning, Tina’s apartment. Bette stands on Tina’s doorstep and considers using her key, but thinks better of it. She knocks and Tina opens the door after a moment.
(Tina) I wasn’t sure you were coming
(Bette) I said I needed some time, I’m not going to stand you up without contacting you
Tina looks at her uncertainly.
(Tina) Well come in, I’ve just started on breakfast
