    Chapter 15

(Tina) Sorry I don’t mean to bother you at work, it’s just I’ve been trying your cell and you’re a difficult woman to catch

(Bette) Sorry, there’s a bit going on

    (Tina) I know, I heard

They sit in silence for a moment.

(Bette) If you’re calling to try and change my mind I wouldn’t bother. As I told Andrew, this is final

(Tina) Bette, I think we need to talk about this, properly. I assume I have some bearing on your decision

They again sit in silence while Bette rubs her forehead.

(Bette) Tina I can’t have this partnership with Andrew while also having whatever it is, or isn’t, with you. It’s too complicated for me. I need to just walk away here

(Tina) You mean walk away from me also?

(Bette sighs) I would have thought that might be what you wanted, that you might feel relieved?

(Tina) No, relief is not what I feel

    There is another silent moment.

    (Tina) Please see me

(Bette) Tina, it’s not a good idea, I’m sorry. I know you’ll just try to change my mind about Andrew, but the decision has been made, and I’m prepared to face any consequences. You don’t have to feel guilty or responsible if that’s what’s going on here. Now I’m sorry but I really must get going

Later, Tina is driving and places a call to Alice, who answers at her office desk.

(Alice) Wow, Tina Kennard, to what do I owe the pleasure?

(Tina) Hi Alice, I’ll just be direct if that suits you?

    (Alice) Ah, ok

(Tina) I need to see Bette and she’s avoiding me. Can you help me? Do you know where and when I can catch her?

Alice raises her eyebrows and glances around the open plan office, making sure she can have a discreet conversation.

(Alice) Um, well her schedule is all over the place at the moment actually

    Tina sighs.

(Alice) I do know where she’ll be tonight though, as it happens. But I don’t think you’re going to want to turn up there

    (Tina) Try me

Later that evening, Tina enters a lesbian nightclub and begins to move around the room, scanning her eyes over the crowd. She eventually spots Alice sitting at a table with Shane and Dana, and makes her way over.

    1. I suppose Tina wasn’t being deceitful when she told Bette she wanted ‘all or nothing’. She’s certainly going for all stringing both Bette and Andrew along to get what she wants. She may be playing Andrew for a fool, but I think he’s wise to her. He’s just giving her the space to come clean. He’s said it repeatedly when he sees them together that there is a connection. I don’t know why Tina is holding onto the marriage plan and being a politician’s wife, possibly another ambition. Very likely she would marry him and have women on the side secretly but didn’t count on meeting Bette or expecting to fall in love or rather in lust. I think Andrew is a really decent guy in that he wasn’t going to go after Bette for pulling out of the deal, but Tina’s actions tonight might really end up screwing Bette in more ways than one. Bette is taking a hugh chance that Tina actually cares about her well-being, but she was prepared to lose her gallery, her reputation, her livelihood and everything she’s worked for to allow Tina to have her ‘ALL’ with Andrew so what more does she stand to lose by putting her heart on the line and continuing the illicit affair. I know it’s Tibette and they can do no wrong moralistically as long as they end up together, but Tina is really crossing a line. Great story. Looking forward to what’s next.

    2. “(Alice) Are you sure about that?

Shane watches them for a moment.

(Shane) Less sure than I was a minute ago to be honest

(Dana) Al just look away if it’s stressing you out

(Alice) No chance of that. It’s like watching a car crash. An incredibly sexy car crash”

      LOL, LOL, LOL!!!
