“Hey baby sis, just give me a minute to finish up here and I’ll be right out. You can put on one of the headsets if you want to listen in.”
Bette found a spot on a comfortable leather couch and fastened the high quality Bose headset over her ears to listen to her sister’s melodious voice. Kit was currently working on a new CD which was scheduled to be released in a few months. The last take on the track was perfect so Kit thanked the studio musicians and the technicians then headed out to where Bette was waiting. The sisters hugged each other in greeting.
“Hey Kit. You sound amazing. I really like the new music you’re putting out.”
“Yeah I’m just going with what’s in my heart and not limiting myself to any genre. With Angus’ help I think it’s coming together beautifully. I’m really proud of this one.”
“You should be.”
“So what brings you here baby girl. I thought you were busy with the Provocations exhibit?”
“I am, but everything’s just about set. The show opens next week. You and Angus are still coming right?”
“We wouldn’t miss it. Given all the controversy it stirred up we know you had to put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into making it happen.”
“Fae Buckley and the Coalition for Concerned Citizens were on a witch hunt. Everyone is entitled to have their opinion but when she attacked me personally she went too far. Did you see that so called interview? She ambushed me then spliced the audio to turn everything I said against me.”
“She should have known better than to mess with a Porter. You destroyed her credibility in that televised debate.”
“She forced my hand Kit. I couldn’t just sit back and allow her to call us pornographers and pedophiles. Challenging her to a debate was the only option for meeting this head on, and our lawyers agreed. I didn’t want to expose her personal family tragedy on national television but she had the audacity to call me godless and a pervert when her own pre-teen daughter was sexually abused by her step-father. Fae Buckley’s husband’s behavior drove an innocent girl into child pornography while the mother stood by and did nothing. What kind of monster could tolerate that kind of abuse in a home and chose a spouse over a child in a situation like that?”

I love your story very much, though sad, it has lighted the debate in my mind about the insecurities and communication in the relationship of our couple; communication is a big part of their failure, Tina has closed herself in her own shell, maybe she is feeling guilty because her pregnancy efforts are not giving results, maybe she feels her partner is not giving her emotional support, maybe she feels Bette is not longer interested in her but just in the baby
And Bette is, just observing, apparently she doesn’t think she has anything to do with the catastrophic situation for which they are going through; she, apparently, already gave up on Tina, thinking the worst of her wife.
Each of them see, for her for own side of the story, they have lost perspective on their relationship and they don’t want to be in the other one shoes, we could say there is none so blind as the one who doesn’t want to see.
I’m thrilled, I want to read what will happen, how they are going to find their way back to each other, Thank you for this update and pps.
Hey Bat, I know I read this story before but I can’t really remember the storyline, there are some bits and pieces I remember but I am not sure if I am mixing it with another story. But it’s all the better so I can enjoy you reposting this story. It’s really hard to stay neutral and to give Tina credit if Bette’s telling Kit about their problems and Tina’s behavior is correct. Don’t worry about any accusation on my part about your portrait of any of Tina or Bette. Looking forward to your next post.
