Chapter 3 – Angelica
Tina made last minute preparations for the baby and made sure she was well-stocked with groceries and supplies at the condo. Once she got the baby home she probably would not be venturing out for at least a couple of weeks.

Bette was in deep meditation at the Buddhist Retreat on the Sunday morning when her daughter Angelica Kennard was born. She was delivered without complications. Both mother and daughter were doing fine. Tina and the baby were released from the hospital on the following Tuesday; two days before Thanksgiving. Tina had so much to be thankful for with the birth of her healthy baby girl. It was one of the happiest moments in her life and also one of the saddest.
Helena had spent the last couple of days with Tina to help with the baby but she was scheduled to fly to New York the following evening to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with her children. She offered to stay with Tina but Tina would not hear of it.
***
Tina was breast-feeding Angelica in the nursery and reminiscing about the first time they brought the baby to her in the hospital to be breast fed. It was two days earlier on Sunday afternoon. Tina had just gotten a glimpse of the baby in the delivery room so when they brought her to the room for her feeding it was Tina’s first opportunity to hold her, nourish her, and count all her fingers and toes.
She was perfect, and amazingly beautiful. Angelica; the name suited her, she was truly angelic. Her skin was very pale, but she had a shock of dark hair and what appeared to be penetrating chocolate brown eyes. Tina knew that Angelica’s coloring would change over time but when she gazed down at her baby she couldn’t help being reminded of another amazingly beautiful woman that possessed the same characteristics.
Her eyes had filled with tears. Despite her resolve and her thoughts that maybe Bette didn’t care about her or the baby she decided to make the first move. She had not seen or spoken to Bette in six months. It was time for the healing to begin. At the very least she would let Bette know that she and the baby were OK. She would open the door.
No matter her determination to do this on her own she knew she really didn’t want to. There was no denying that in her heart she wanted Angelica to know her other mother. Provided Bette wanted the same thing she would give her the chance. In that moment she had impulsively picked up the bedside phone and dialed the familiar number. She got voicemail and left a message for Bette.
That was two days ago and she had not received a call back. She was heartbroken but at least now she had her answer. Bette’s silence could only mean that Bette had moved on and wanted nothing to do with her or the baby.
It was so ironic that at that moment Bette was literally breaking her self-imposed silence and making her way back home. Now that she was clean, sober and centered she would be better able to handle whatever she’d have to endure in order to get her family back.

What an irony of life, Tina is now looking for Bette.
Bette and now goes in search of reviving your family,
they should have done it long before Angel was born,
we’ll see what happens.
The complete constellation.
