Bette: “Well I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about what happened Tina, I just want to try and forget about it. Not sure if it’s possible. I will make you a promise that when I feel that I need help, then I will tell you and go and see someone.”

Tina: “You promise me?”

Bette: “Yes I promise.”

We eat our lunch and then go to the police station to give a statement. Our flight leaves at 20:00 so we go back to the hotel and check out.

At 20:05 we leave the run way at Cape Town International and leave South Africa and our nightmare behind.

We eat our dinner and settle in for a nights rest. 16 hours in the air will be as long time. But we don’t worry because we are together.

Back home, tired after a long flight but we are so happy to see the kids and they are just as happy to see us. We spend the afternoon together catching up and relaxing. The mom’s made supper and we enjoy it as a family.  We chat and decide to watch a movie after wards. The kids tells us what they bought for the pick nick. Bette enjoys the kids and their tales, but I can see that she is tired, so just after 9 we decide to go to bed.

But I also expect that we will have a problem with Ella, since arrival that afternoon, she didn’t leave Bette alone. She sat with her hold her hand, lay on her shoulder while watching television. And when we decide to go to bed, she had tears in her eyes and ask if she could sleep with us. Normally we don’t allow it, but under this circumstances we decide that maybe it will be the best. That first night back at home and we have all the kids on mattresses in our bedroom.

We lay next to each other, everyone else in the room asleep.

Bette: “T I’m sorry that we have to share our bedroom with the kids. Ella is just a bit afraid.”

Tina: “Bette this is our family, and I’m happy to share you and our bedroom with them. Come close your eyes and sleep. Tomorrow will be a busy day. Remember I LOVE YOU.”

Bette: Love you too T, goodnight.”

Tina: “Goodnight babe.”
