    Chapter 4

“Tina are you falling out of love with Bette?”

Tina mind went into overdrive at Alice’s question. Was her developing feelings for men a denial or confusion about her own sexuality or had she just simply fallen out of love with Bette?

“I don’t know Al, but I do know we can’t go on like this. I’m going to talk to her when she gets home tonight.”

As Bette recounted the Marcus Allenwood story to Kit she realized how much the couple was suffering. The crack in their foundation had grown wider and wider with each passing day, and now the breakdown in their relationship appeared to be irreparable. The year they had spent since deciding to start a family had been the worst in the history of their marriage. They were more emotionally and physically distant now than ever before. Kit agreed that bringing a baby into this situation regardless of its ethnicity would be a tragic mistake.

“I never felt so dejected in my life Kit. My life-partner, the woman I thought I would be spending the rest of my life with, whom I thought shared the same core values and ideals rejected everything I stood for, and now she’s rejecting me.”

“So you think the marriage is over?”

“I love her Kit. I love her with everything that I am but she’s like a stranger to me these days. I don’t want our marriage to end but we can’t continue living like this. I have to get real about this. If she doesn’t love me anymore and she doesn’t want a family with me then I need to face that.”

“What are you going to do?”

“I have ten days off after the Provocations opening. I was thinking about going to a Buddhist retreat in Vermont. My friend Julia told me about one for couples and if Tina agrees to go with me maybe we can start to salvage our relationship. We are both so broken right now that I don’t think we can do it on our own any longer. I’ll talk to her about it tonight when she comes home.”

Bette drove Kit home. Her boyfriend Angus invited Bette in for a nightcap but she declined. Bette wasn’t looking forward to going home to an empty house or worse yet another chilly reception from her wife but she knew it was pointless to put it off any longer.

    1. Wow, now things get worst, there is a man in the scene, who Tina doesn’t even know in flesh. I could think on the traumatic year they had, has affected Tina in the way that she is rejecting many things she had with Bette; deep down she knows she love her wife, but she feels manipulated by her, and Bette wants to get things done and behaves as a control freak. Again miscommunication and self-centeredness is the problem. I like how you take them down in this story, I wondering when they will touch bottom and how is going to be the mending fences part. Now, Tina has made a mistake, apparently she left the laptop on, and got distracted with Alice; if Bette arrives first, she may see the e-mails on the laptop and it’s not going to be pretty for Tina. I like this story, and as painful as it is I’m glad you are updating every day, so, the agony is short. Thanks again and pps

    2. It’s great to have you back posting BAT even though you are breaking my heart with the storyline.

I will, of course, keep reading in the believe that Tibette will triumph in the end.

      Thanks and post again soon.
