    Chapter 53 – Label Whore

    KDG Offices

Bette had a smile plastered on her face, similar to the one Tina wore, when she walked through the front door of her office building.  There was a spring in her step this morning and the fact that she was 10 minutes late didn’t even faze her. If either Leonard or Phyllis gave her shit for her tardiness it would not have bothered her because the reason was so very worth a brief Kroll scolding that she would tune out anyway with thoughts of the heavenly lips of one, Miss Tina Kennard.

“Good morning, Max.” Bette sang her greeting into his open office as she continued down the hall towards her own office.

“Morning, Bette,” he said as he furrowed his brow wondering what had put his co-worker in such a jovial mood on a Monday morning. Typically, Bette started each Monday muttering her loathe for them. Max decided to see what was up.

Bette had just sat at her work station when Max knocked on the doorframe announcing his presence. She looked up and gave him a big grin.

“Hey, girl. You’re glowing, what gives?”

With a slight blush, Bette was reticent about disclosing the source of her giddiness that was emanating from her enough for people to observe. Her pregnant pause made Max ask another question.

“Did you sign the band with an agent already?”

“Oh shit, I almost forgot about that.” Bette blurted out as she picked up her cell phone and scrolled through the contacts for the number Tina gave her.

Max looked confused as Bette reached for her office phone and dialed the number. As she listened to the ringing on the other end her attention was back on Max and gave him just a tidbit of info.

“I met someone.” The goofy grin had returned and Max nodded in understanding. He smiled at his colleague, genuinely happy to hear that.

    “That’s great, Bette.”

Thoughts of Tina and getting to speak to her again later in the evening proved to make for a productive morning as Bette powered through all of her paperwork and email correspondence from some of her clients. She even had a lunch consultation scheduled with Joyce Wischnia, the entertainment lawyer that Tina set her up with.

    2. 6 chapters! Wow! Thankyouthankyouthankyou :-) But I’m not reading all of it in one session. It’s only Monday after all, so I’m going to save some for the next days.

Nice morning after. And thanks for another Dana-moment. One of my favourite characters.
