Chapter III – Empire State of Mind – Love in the Hamptons

Logan leaned over the wooden railing of the landing of the broad staircase that wound its way along one side of the meticulously landscaped lawn of the eastern half of his beachside mansion. The broad, wooden staircase meandered as it sloped down gently to the beach, then to the sea.

He blew out a satisfied breath as he surveyed the view, alternately puffing on the Cuban cigar he’d lit earlier, with drinking occasional mouthfuls of the Hennessy Paradis from the huge glass goblet that he balanced on one hand. The combination was his one concession to unhealthy habits he’d picked up through the years, which he’d justified by indulging in “only on occasion.”

Tina hated his occasional cigar smoking. So did Bette, who’d banned him from doing so in their duplex (”It reeks for days after. No, not even in the terrace, Logan”). So he stayed many feet away from Bette, Tina, and the others, to enjoy his cigar in peace, and swirl the liquid gold of the Hennessey cognac.

He squinted his eyes as he did a slow sweep of the incomparable view of this picturesque part of the bay. He thought to himself, “even if Melanie turned out to be cruel, particularly towards the end, one thing I’ve got to hand to her was her great eye for property.’ The real estate value of this beachside mansion, for example, had grown to 10 times what it had been worth from the time they’d purchased it soon after he’d made his first real fortune about 20 years ago. The steep increase in its valuation had been mainly because of the priceless views of the bay one could find from almost any vantage point in the property, particularly from where he now stood, and the well-designed remodeling they’d done of the mansion and its grounds, which Melanie had supervised.  And the penthouse on Park Avenue she’d insisted he buy almost as soon as the market had crashed six years ago was now heavily sought-after, also.  He’d gotten an eye-popping offer for it about a year ago from the daughter of one of the Russian oligarchs looking to splash out on a Manhattan property.

But even if he was now a bachelor, seemingly with little need for all of this property, he loathe to give either property up, having fallen in love with both.

    1. Geez, what to say, i am totally addicted to your story.

And like everyone in your story, i also have a secret crush at Bette.

B&T, they are the most amazing couple, their connection is inbreakable and they are so strong, they can and will handle everything that will cross their pad.

      Thanks for the update.

    2. Bette leaving everyone starstruck is totally believable. Tina recounting their first time was wonderful. I hope we will get Bette’s POV of her first time with Tina so that it will ease Tina’s insecurities. I am nervous about Bette traveling again.

    3. Love it! Tina talking about her first time with Bette was hot! I know Tina is scared but she should trust Bette not to so anything stupid. Life needs to go on. Taking Diane and Jules may not be a good thing. I love that B&T are trying for another baby.

    4. Ahhh!, I love to see the girls living the finer side of life after so much drama and hurt. All the men and women came to attention as Bette sashayed across the veranda dressed like she had just stepped out of Vogue magazine. I could see the younger women hanging on Tina’s every word as she spoke about their first time together. This is just a marvelous tale. Please keep Bette safe while she departs on this mission. She has to remember that she was not with Tina for the birth of Angelica. She does not want that to happen again. Thanks for the dual updates and enjoy the warms days of summer.

    5. Lovely rememberances from Tina’s POV. I, too, would love to hear Bette’s recounting. Your writing is so fluid and alive – just brilliant!! Thank you.
