    “Yes,” Tina responded slowly, at first.  ”Many couples are doing it.” “While I was pregnant with Angelica I met a couple in one of Logan’s parties who had arranged for a surrogate to carry their baby to term,” Tina started to explain, talking more quickly now, “because the woman had discovered she had a severe heart

    “Yes,” Tina responded slowly, at first.  ”Many couples are doing it.”

    “While I was pregnant with Angelica I met a couple in one of Logan’s parties who had arranged for a surrogate to carry their baby to term,” Tina started to explain, talking more quickly now, “because the woman had discovered she had a severe heart problem. And Liz had patients also, straight couples, that is, who were asking her to do the same thing: placing the embryo of the couple into the uterus of the surrogate, using in vitro fertilization methods.”

    “You’re suggesting we ask Liz to fertilize my egg with Tom’s sperm?”

    “Yes, honey. And then implant the embryo in me!”

    Bette fell quiet, and was staring off into space, lost in thought.

    “Let’s at least consider it?” Tina asked, after a few minutes, standing up from her chair to walk around the table, and then knelt next to Bette and Angie, her eyes beseeching Bette’s.

    “Is that even possible?” Bette asked again, her mind going a mile a minute, examining all the angles, all the implications, of what Tina had just said, She looked back at Tina’s warm hazel eyes, and automatically caressed the blonde’s face, lost in thought, momentarily nonplussed.

    “I read somewhere there are close to 800 babies born that way each year. And who knows? The figure could be higher,” Tina added.

    “Okay: it’s controversial under some circumstances, but in our situation, don’t you think it’s just the most natural thing for us to do? Once you get behind that initial crazy feeling, of course,” Tina asked, putting on her most winning smile.  

    As Bette remained quiet and lost in thought, she stood up, and circled back to her chair, picking up her mobile.

    “Look, let me call Liz now.  Run it past her.  Before we get ahead of ourselves.”

    Bette was still looking at her in wonderment, overhearing snatches of the excited conversation Tina was having with Liz. It was clear their exuberant doctor was all for it.

    “Thanks, Liz! Ok … you want Bette to come in? Let me check with her, ok?  Yeah, we’re still talking about it.  But it’s good to know you think it’s a great idea.   I’m … um … about to start my cycle, anyway. I can feel it. So we have a few days, still, right?  Before we have to do anything?   We’ll check our schedules and get back to you on Monday, if that’s alright?”

    4. I really love this story, even though I rarely write a comment.
      but I don’t understand Bette go to wherever, why a woman need to fly like a bird of prey? Bette is a very beautiful woman, but it’s like the women who encounter with her, there is no self-control.
      I always love Bette and Tina’s deep love for each other in this story. but the trouble was that Bette never drew the line against others.
      and Diane was perhaps a little too protective now, compared to a friend’s role.
      I hope Tina will not be angry if Bette tells her the “meeting”.
      the telephone conversation was sweet between them.
      wondered what Tina had to say to her? :)

    6. Great update! Bette has to be careful right now with an emotionally hormonal Tina. She has to know that she can’t just roam and conquer. I like the sidekick role of Diane. She will kept Bette accountable. Damn that woman has would be lovers everywhere. Keep posting, please.

    7. Thanks for the post. Bette needs a full time body guard just to keep her admirers away! You would think she would have learned to have set boundaries with her admirers since Tina got upset with her “incidents” in the past.

    8. There are things happening in the world that beggar the imagination, I know. But a planeload of people blown out of the sky? Just another level of insanity — all those lives lost. One minute here. The next….

      May not be the right forum, but I just can’t shake the feeling, “there but for the grace of God …” for one who takes to the skies.

      I loved the chapter, especially when I read that Toms sperm was used to fertilize bettes eggs, that is what I was hoping for all along. That is going to be one beautiful baby.
