    Classical Repertoire… Chap 30

Bette had fallen asleep with her head on Tina’s shoulder, she wasn’t used to the long flights and mind numbing boredom of flying to Zim. They had stopped off in London to catch the connecting flight and were now on the last leg of their journey. This was the first time Tina had flown with someone other than Tori or her family and had decided to try and make the flight decidedly more interesting by indulging in some saucy antics with Bette…. which probably explained why Bette fell asleep with a huge grin plastered on her face. It was just then that Tina heard the captain announce that they were beginning their decent and would be landing in Harare in about half an hour. Tina knew that one of the best ways to land was to be looking out the window and seeing the beauty of her country, it was such a contrasting sight to landing in LA. She gently woke Bette up and whispered for her to look out the window and what Bette saw took her breath away. She wasn’t sure why Tina had insisted that she have the window seat but now she knew, it was so that she could see this. The sun was setting and the horizon was full of deep russet reds and oranges, created by a mixture of the dust and the setting sun. The sky however was a stark contrast with softer colours and faint traces of clouds which looked as though they were outlined in pink. This was the blanket that was falling over endless miles of parched land which had it’s own unique beauty, and reflected in the many lakes and rivers. It was then that Tina pointed out that they were on the ourskirts of the capital city, it seemed so small and insignificant compared to when one lands in LA or London. Bette was beginning to understand why Tina loved her country so much and as she looked over at Tina, she could see the love and excitement evident in her eyes. Bette saw something else though which she had seldom seen in the blonde’s eyes, she saw apprihension and doubt.
