Collision Course 4.88 – Distance
“You can’t sneak up on me, even if you try,” drifted a sultry voice on the warm ocean breeze.
Amy smiled, rolling her emerald eyes, “I wasn’t trying to. You knew I was coming.”
“I did,” said Jo Wheaton, falling into step besides Amy. They didn’t speak for a while, just putting one foot in front of the other.
“Where did you come from?” asked Amy in a conversational tone.
“My mother, of course,” said Jo in a plain voice.
“Hardy, har, har!” teased Amy, pushing Jo playfully. The woman didn’t miss a step, righting herself, a half grin on her full lips as she winked at Amy. “How are you feeling?”
Jo had retreated to Venus Island in the hopes of bringing the two sides of her soul together; the vampire half and the human half. The solitude was what Jo had needed, her only companion for the last few weeks had been her computer and the 200 gigs of music that she’d been listening too. Sliding her hands into her jean shorts as she walked, she asked, “How are the girls?”
“Which set? The old ones or the young ones?” asked Amy in her sweet voice. Noticing the not so subtle change of subjects but deciding not to make a big deal about it.
“Both sets,” said Jo, squinting into the sun as she looked at Amy.
“Emma, Darci, and Shelby are fine. Emma got promoted, no more field work less she wants to, and you know her, she’ll be in the field anyway,” said Amy with a chuckle. “Darci had a date the other night, he was cute too. Shelby and Mike are coming in a few weeks, Mike has a few weeks off, thought they could spend it here, with Sydney.”
“And the kids?” asked Jo as they approached the small house.
“All great, Tegan is a little more approachable, and Natalie and Alice are already over with,” said Amy.
“I knew that wasn’t gonna last. Natalie was just checking out the dark side,” smirked Jo.
“Dark side?” asked Amy, cocking a shapely eyebrow.

I cant believe that you wont be writing * classes are not that long, really is unless you take all 8 in one senster. I do believe we will be seeing you soon,You are to good a writer not to write. Glad you got all the gang back together. That is a plus for you and you can write romance and gusty stuff real well. Take care study hard and be the best RN that anyone can be,the best. You and your have a happy Holiday thanks bvh
what cute chapter! got love boo bring both her moms to nap, lol.
Janet Marie: I have enjoyed reading your various stories. They are always very well-written and absorbing. And you certainly give the characters your own spin. ;-D Many congratulations to you on going to college to get your RN! Thank you so much for all the stories and I hope we do get a chance to see more from you in the future.
Thanks for the great ride! Good luck in your schooling (including the exciting clinical part!)and your future career. You will never have trouble finding a job, that is for sure. In fact, you will be able to write your ticket to anywhere you would like to go. Enjoy yourself and Merci for the happy ending.
Ahh, thank you Janet. I needed a happy ending at this moment in time. If you are a cult writer then count me into your little cult world. If you go at your schooling and then your profession with the same talent and passion you have with your writing…well, anyone would be lucky to be cared for by you. Take care of yourself, and even if you have to take a break from writing, that’s fine, just come back to it when you can. You are too good not to include this outlet in your life.
Wow…that’s a whammy of a chapter to leave us on. I didn’t expect Tina to do the proposing. You always have a gift for surprises. Good luck with your studies, not that you’ll need it.
Hey Lady! That was brilliant! TINA doing the proposing? Hee Hee. Too damn cute. Only you. I loved this: “Would you come take a shower with me? I’m feeling dirty and not in a good way,” said Rosita in a throaty sexy voice. Oh god that just made me purrrrr. Good luck in school hun. Ness is taking the RN program here too, and this semester her GPA is 4.0~~~ I’m soooo proud of her. Write when you can, you would be completely missed if you didn’t post. Here is a quote for you: “If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are gone, either write things worth reading or do things worth writing.” – Benjamin Franklin. A compliment to you Janet.
Dear cult leader though I will not drink grape cool aid for you, I will follow your stories again when ever you return. Good luck with school. I know you will do well but eight classes in one semester is very harsh, becareful. I am also returning to graduate school. I am not sure I even know how to study anymore, no way would I take eight classes.
Good luck to you.I hope you find a way to keep writing.Oh one more thing. Are you going to leave it there woman.
I gather there’s a little bit more to come to wrap things up? Even if not, I wish you every success with your classes. I have complete and utter faith you’ll be as awesome an RN as you are a writer. This post was fabulous, as were the others, I can’t get over how good Lara and Shane are, and I’m pleased about Al and Ro and well, of course, B & T (a proposal?!?!). What about Jo, though? Amy? The rest of J.A.D.E.S? Their kids, the second generation? I’m gearing myself up to say goodbye to these characters, I’ve come to really care about all of them, and it’s gonna be hard. You have fantastic vision, Janet. I’m really gonna miss this story. (But I still think there’s a bit more, non? ;) ) Thanks for the post JM.
If reading you is a cult, than pass the kool-aid I’m in.
Awesome story, loved every word. Good luck with school the world needs good nurses (wasn’t for me, I’m a better cook then TLC’er)
Glad Ro & Alice finally got their shit together. I miss Jo. All the best in school, drop a line when you can.
Wow! Everybody is just jumping in with both feet aren’t they? Great chapter good luck with school we’ll all be watching and waiting for when you decide to grace us with another post. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Jo should give Amy and hersef a second chance at love. The wait was long but you made it worthwhile in the end for B&T so thanks. Good luck with school and my hat off for chosing that tough profession…but of course you probably love the challenge =) Do come back if time permits and continuing with Le Bandwagon would be a plus. Take care.
great post! good for you that your going to school if that makes you happy you should do it i’m a nurse myself so i can relate.. and maybe we’ll see a post once in a while when you find the time
