“Yeah don’t worry Al.. I’m well aware of where you are right now and where you should be.”

“Look Al…” Tina took a deep breath and tried to calm herself “all night long you two have been fine… nothing changes just because you remembered what she does for a living, Do you like her less because she is a doctor?”

“Hell no”

“Well what’s the problem Al. It’s not like she is going to suddenly remember she is a doctor and decide you not good enough.” Tina was calmer but not backing down one bit. She felt responsible for the hurt Dana was feeling and she was going to fix it.

“What if I’m not good enough?”

“Alice!”

“Alice if you weren’t good enough you wouldn’t have been good enough from the beginning” Bette tried to reassure her friend.

“Seriously Al… that is silly if she didn’t like you she wouldn’t be out there waiting for you… but if you don’t get out there you are going to miss your chance.”

“Alright”

“Alright what?”

“I’ll go”

Tina gave Alice a look

“I want to go… I really like her.”

“Thats better.. I’m gonna go check on her.” Tina left the bedroom and headed back to find Dana. She found her on a lounger by the pool.

“Dane”

“Hey” the disappointment evident in her voice.

“Hey… you alright”

“Yeah.. I guess… I should be used to it right?”

“Hey stop that.. she not like that Dane… she freaked cause she thinks she’s not good enough. She’s on her way back out.”

Alice cleared her throat as she approached the women, not wanting to interrupt them.

“Tina… would you mind if I spoke to Dana for a minute?”

Tina looked to Dana for the Ok. Dana gave Tina a nod and an apprehensive smile letting her know it was Ok. Tina gave Alice a supportive smile as she walked past her.

Alice sat down on the edge of the lounger next to Dana facing her.

“Um… Dana.. I’m sorry about that. I kinda freaked… and I owe you an explanation…”

“Al it’s fine.. you don’t own me anything.”

“Dane.. I want to… I really like you Dana and I freaked because I have forgotten you were a doctor. I freaked cause I’m afraid… I’m afraid I’m not good enough for you… I’m sorry I upset you.”

“Al look at me” Dana lifted Alice’s chin. “Do I get any say in it?” Dana asked with a smile. “Al I like you a lot… I want to get to know you better.”

“I do to.”

“So why don’t we go back to my place.. and see where this goes.”

Alice flashed a smile and nodded.

“And one more thing”

“What”

“Please don’t think that just because I am a doctor I’m one of those stuffy know it alls. I really can’t stand them.”
