Dawn of a new day
Helena made her way into the room and looked around for a place to sit. She finally settled on one of the side arm chairs with a straight back when Peggy fired off her first of many questions that she would ask in quick succession.
“Helena how well do you know Martha’s daughter Kelly?”
“I’ve only met her once. We bumped into each other at a club in London. Why?”
“When was that?”
“It was a few weeks before you left for New York. Why?”
“Have you talked to her or emailed since then?” Peggy couldn’t believe this happened while she herself was still living in London.
“No I haven’t mother. Obviously when my plans changed and I stayed in London Kelly returned to Los Angeles. I lost track of her and haven’t really given her any thought until Bette mentioned her at breakfast the other day.”
Helena had inadvertently given Peggy the opening she needed to get to the bottom of this.
“Why didn’t you say anything when Bette brought up Kelly’s proposal to Valerie?”
“What was I to say? It was all art talk and you know I have no interest in that.” Helena could have kicked herself, but she thought she covered well. I mother couldn’t argue with the fact the Helena had no interest in art.
“It wasn’t just art talk Helena. Bette made it very clear that she thought Kelly and Jodi might be up to something.”
“I didn’t want to get involved.” That much for covering herself. Her mother obviously had an agenda for this line of questioning. She might as well be honest.
“Well it appears you already are involved. We just need to determine to what extend and whose side you are on.”
“I’m not on any side mother. I don’t even know what you are talking about. What is this about?”
“What about Jodi Lerner?”
“What about her?”
“Do you know her?”
“No. I’ve just heard the name. Kelly mentioned her in conversation but I’ve never met her.”
“What was the conversation about? What did she say about Jodi?”
“Mother why are you interrogating me like this? I demand to know what this is about before I answer any more of your accusations.” Helena was losing her patience and getting angry.

I was just completing and sending my comment from the last chapter when I discovered this new chapter. So happy that Bette told Tina about her history. It is important that they have nothing between that would affect their lives in the future. Its great that Tina is mature enough and sure of herself to understand all that has transpired in Bettes’ life and still be able to love and share in their love and future plans. All these negative things have changed and colored Bettes’ life in a significant way and now Tina understands the nuances that makes Bette the woman that she has become yet still love her to the bone. Wonderful chapter. Thanks for posting.
Also happy that helena seems to have redeemed herself with her mother. I just hope she carries through and not warn those two hellish bitches of their impending doom. Can hardly wait to see what happens next. Enjoying these chapters so much. Thanks.
Dang BAT!! It’s hard trying to catch up with your story as you post faster than I can read your chapters but you are doing such an excellent job even if I haven’t commented in a few chapters!
I love that Bette is fully opening up and trusting Tina enough to share her history with Jodi as it gives Tina a better understanding of how that has been a part of what has shaped Bette into the woman she is. I love how you have Tina so supportive of Bette and sure of where she is in Bette’s life now. Helena seems to be showing some redeeming qualities and that’s good to see and of course I just love your Peggy in this story. Kelly and Jodi really don’t stand a chance with Peggy looking out for things
Thanks BAT – Loved it!
What a great chapter, thank you:
for taking the Peggy/Helena relationship to a better level and expanding their characters
for strengthening Bette/Tina’s relationship by Bette trusting the full story and Tina showing such strength and support
Beautifully written and great storytelling as always look forward to your next post.
Just wanted to tell you that I am still reading but I didn’t comment because I read this story before and remember especially this part of the story. So not to give anything away I am staying away from commenting but know I always follow your exceptional writing.
Bat, it was a great chapter. you bring together miraculously. I loved the part where Peggy and Martha “interrogation led Helena” :D
It was really great to see that Helena honestly told the story, and she regretted what she had done. the change in the behavior of Helena is the most positive thing for me. I hope to stay that way!
I’m very glad to Bette, was able to honestly say Tina, what did Jodie. Tina supportive, loving and compassionate behavior was the best.
Overall, it was a wonderful chapter.
I am lost, it’s hard to comment when i read the comments from the others, i agree with all of them.
I have read this story before but can’t remember everything, so for me it is so good as new.
You are a fantastic writer and i love this story.
Thank you for the quick updates!
Thanks BAT, it was a profound chapter and so well written. I loved the way you handled the conversation between Helena and the two moms and how mature she had become in being honest with herself and Peggy. Sometimes words do need to be said in order for healing to take place.
I also love the place where Tina and Bette are in their relationship in being open and honest with one another. Relationships are hard and do take lots of work to be the best they can be. I have a good feeling that Bette and Tina are well on their way to that kind of relationship.
Thanks for this amazing story.
Great chapter. Once again you have captured the essences of human connectivity through your choice of words.
So glad Bette told Tina everything and that Helena came clean too. Thanks so much for the two updates. Loved them
