    Discovering Aphrodite

Tina walked slowly around the grounds of the Kourion, thankful that her sunglasses covered her eyes.  Her eyes had welled when Bette has stood behind her, asked her if she was okay…  She had laughed it off, or tried to, by reaffirming her own words of ‘holiday romance’.  But Bette had held her regardless of the words and when she had said ‘it’s just a holiday romance’, she had felt Bette’s arm tighten slightly.  She had also noticed how Bette had not answered her words.

Bette walked casually beside Tina, trying to take in the history of the site, but she couldn’t help the fact that she felt like she was walking under a cloud despite the high temperature.  She wasn’t sure if it had to do with the words of the older women or the blasé way in which Tina had replied when she had asked if she was okay.  Whatever it was, it had distinctly changed the mood from earlier in the day.

They stood on the wooden platform overlooking the House of the Gladiators, looking down on the mosaic flooring of the armed combat fighters.  Bette glanced up, seeing the Kourion arena in the distance.  She glanced downwards, reading the information plaque on how the gladiators trained upon the flooring before them to then stand in the arena they had just visited to fight.

She linked her fingers loosely with Tina’s, gently squeezing as they both looked at the intricately designed mosaics, “can you believe they actually had gladiators here…”

Tina took a deep breath, trying to will away the morose feeling she had held since they walked from the stadium.  She looked at Bette, noticing how the other woman’s eyes gave an almost silent pleading that they continue their day how it started, neither wanted to feel like this, but it was more than obvious to both that things had taken a turn in the last half hour.

Tina smiled, returning the squeeze of the hand, she didn’t want to feel like this, she didn’t want their time together to be spoiled by waves of feelings coursing through her.  She wanted to enjoy the time they had left, enjoy spending time with a woman she had a hard time tearing her eyes away from…

    3. Well Jo, those cogs are still turning just fine! I’m glad you’re healing, even if it is slow…the most important thing is you are getting better. Now tell these two vacationing ladies that a romance does not just have to stay a vacationing romance…have them discuss where they live and see if there could be an on-going romance. Geeze…do we have to do all the thinking for these two! PPS!

    11. “I’m guessing that the hot blonde is kinda getting under your skin huh?”; “Well honey, if she thinks this is just going to be a holiday romance, then you had best make it one she never forgets…” ; “What have you got to lose baby girl?”, if these are not words that Kit and Alice would have said to Bette than I don’t know who would have said those to her. Fate and destiny can be powerful if followed correctly. That was an AWESOME post, Jo. Again welcome back.
