“Alright, alright I’m up.” She turned around and smiled. “Lets stay home and lay in bed all day. Come on, what do you say?” Olivia looked at her and smiled.

“I would love to love, but we both have a job to get to. But can I get a rain check?” Carmen smiled and nodded her head. She pulled Olivia closer to her and kissed her. She let go of Olivia and got out of bed.

“Would you like to join me in the shower?” Olivia jumped out of bed and ran after Carmen to the bathroom. Carmen walked out of her walk-in closet and put on her clothes. An ensemble of an old concert t-shirt and pair of ripped up jeans. Olivia walked out of the bathroom in a nice pin-stripe suit. They both walked into the kitchen and grabbed a cup of coffee.

“So how long will you be in the office today?” Carmen looked at her lover and took a drink of her coffee.

“It depends on what the boss has in store from me today. But I promise you I’ll be home before seven.”

“Ok, but I better get going.” Carmen put her cup in the sink and grabbed her bag. “I love you.”

“I love you more.” Carmen gave Olivia a soft kiss and grabbed her keys. She unlocked the door and got into her mustang, a nice gift on her birthday from Olivia. She pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street.

            There was a knock on Shane’s apartment door. She got up slowly and walked over to the door.

“Hang on a sec!” She walked over some things strewn across the floor. She took the deadbolt off the door and opened it. “Hey Al.” Shane walked away from the door and took a seat on the couch. Alice looked around the room and was disgusted.

“My god, don’t you clean up after yourself?” Shane turned on the TV.

“No, I like living this way. What did you come for?” Alice stood by the table and look down on Shane.

“I’m come to see if you were ok or mostly alive. I’ve been worried about you. You completely shut everyone out of your life.” Shane looked at Alice and then back at the TV.

“I like it that way. I don’t want anybody in my life right now.”

“Not even her.” Shane shot her eyes at Alice, knowing that she was hitting a sour subject. “I just wanted you to know that Carmen moved on with her life, and she is happy. She has a new girlfriend and-.” Shane cut her off.

“Alice, please spare me the *****’ details. I’m really not in the mood to have this conversation with you right now. If that is all you came here for, you can just leave.” Alice sighed and started to walk back to the door.

“Well I wanted you to know that everybody misses you, and we love you. I want you to know that you’re not alone Shane. If you need somewhere to stay, give me a call. I can help out you know. It’s not a problem.”

“Alice,” Shane looked at her best friend. “I’ll give you call, but don’t hold your breath.” She turned back to the TV.

“Bye Shane.” Alice walked out of the apartment and closed the door.
