    Easy to Forget ch. 4

    Previously,,,

The next morning Tina was in the kitchen, sipping her coffee when Bette walked in. She was already dressed wearing her usual clean, crisp suit. She came up behind Tina, kissing her neck softly.

    Mmmmmm, you smell good.

    Well, good morning to you.

Listen Tina, I need you out of the house by four oclock and make sure you dont come back earlier than seven. Im planning a little surprise for you.

Oh really? Is it something that Ill like?

Maybe. But youll just have to wait and see. Ok, so remember: out by four. Ill see you later, Bette said giving Tina a very passionate kiss on the lips.

Tina thought that this side of Bette was definitely very nice. She just wondered how long it would last.

Bette arrived home a few minutes before five-thirty. She had wanted to arrive earlier but overestimated her ability to get everything she needed in a timely fashion. She was glad to see that Tina had heeded her warning and was nowhere in the house. She moved quickly to the bedroom, removing her jacket as she walked. She wanted to surprise Tina with a special evening. She felt so horrible about everything. She absolutely loved the museum but she knew her relationship with Tina was more important.

When it came down to it, if she were to die tomorrow, the museum would still be up and running. There would always be people to run the museum but Tina would have only one wife. Once at a coworkers funeral, her husband stood up to say a few words about her and through his tears the only words he could say were, She was a great gal. Bette figured if after fifty years together your spouse could still think that then you had done something right. Bette wanted to ensure that when the time came neither she nor Tina would have any regrets.

How did I end up thinking these morbid thoughts, Bette wondered. The truth was she knew she and Tina were walking a very fine line. Bette wanted tonight to be about reconnecting and a glimpse of what was to come in the future. She quickly changed into her YALE booty shorts and a tank top. She was cooking tonight so she definitely needed athletic wear.
