Easy to Forget ch. 4
She had decided to make breakfast foods for dinner. There was something oddly enchanting about eating breakfast at night. Plus, breakfast was Tinas favorite meal of the day and something that Bette could easily work up.
She went to the kitchen and pulled out everything she needed. She cracked eggs into a bowl, whisked them and then added milk, cinnamon and vanilla extract. She had bought really thick sliced bread so that the French toast wouldnt look so puny. She also bought some turkey sausage.
Her next mission was to make homemade hash browns. She was a little bit nervous about this as it involved that she actually use a knife. Ok, just watch what youre doing. Watch what youre dicing, she said to herself. In short order, she had diced the potatoes and put them on the skillet. Once all that was done she moved everything to the oven and set it to Warm.
Her favorite part of the meal was dessert. She had bought strawberries with the stem still on and a few bars of fine chocolate. She quickly set up a double boiler and put in the chocolate with some heavy cream mixed in. Once it was melted, Bette started dipping the strawberries.
Freaking *****! Bette yelled. The chocolate on the strawberries was hardening in an odd manner. They were a little bit clumpy, not at all like the professional ones she saw in restaurants.
How the ***** do they get them so smooth?
She felt really disappointed that she couldnt get the strawberries to look like they were supposed to. She hoped Tina wouldnt mind. There was no time to try making more. She still had to decorate. She removed about thirty different sized candles from a bag and set them around the living room. She wanted to create the perfect ambience for her meal with Tina. She had also decided that they would eat on the coffee table in the living room and sit on the floor. She figured that this way they could sit close to one another, adding to the romance of the evening. She quickly spread a red tablecloth over the coffee table and went to get the silverware. She also had some roses and trimmed them pretty dramatically so that they could fit into a small vase. She set this in the middle of the table. She looked around the room and was pleased with her efforts but noted it was a little dim.
