    Chapter 25 – Renewed and united

     

    The new house was about a mile outside of Lucca and a very short distance to Viareggio a lovely seaside community, nestled in the hills of Tuscany. Bette and Tina enjoyed exploring the area on mopeds and long walks. They decided a day trip to Viareggio for some shopping and fresh seafood would be a great way to spend the day.

    The train to Viareggio was a short trip with breathtaking scenery the whole way. Once in the tiny town they shopped for more pottery and asked some of the locals the best place for seafood. They found a rustic café; their appetites were ready for the seafood feast in front of them.

    “Bette, I cannot believe how beautiful it is here. This town makes me feel like we are on the French Rivera or something. When did you discover it? “About six months after I bought the gallery a friend brought me here” Bette was enjoying the shrimp and pasta and not noticing Tina’s face. “And would that friend be Isabella?” Bette’s mouth was full of pasta but looking up at Tina she swallowed quick and hard. “Yes, but Tee if we went to Hawaii no doubt we would visit places you had been with an ex-girlfriend”

    Tina didn’t say anything as she thought for a moment, finally her shoulders relaxed and there was a soft sigh. “I’m sorry Bette, I guess.. I guess, I get a bit jealous sometimes” Bette reached across the table taking Tina’s hand. “Come here” They leaned in for a soft kiss. “Tee, I was never in love with her.” Tina grinned feeling a bit embarrassed by her reaction. “Sorry Babe I don’t want to ruin our day” “It’s not possible Tee, I am so happy to be here with you and show you around. The only thing I want to do here is create memories with you.” And they shared another soft kiss. “In fact Viareggio has an ample gay community for a small town and so does Lucca near our house. Viareggio has this great Carnival every year. Second only to Venice in all of Italy, next year we need come. It would be a perfect time to bring the gang – they’ll love it” “I noticed lots of masks in the shops, now I understand. I bet it’s a beautiful festival”

I sometimes wonder if JB and LH have any clue as to how much they are loved. Do they have any idea how they bring out the creative side of you women who write for our enjoyment?
