Tina furrowed her brows and brought her hands under Bette’s shoulders to push her up. They hadn’t spoken that way in years, and she needed to look into Bette’s eyes to see if there was a joke in her expression. “What?” She looked like she wanted to laugh. “… Bette …”
Smiling that infamous grin, Bette was hoping it would erode any suspicion. “… What?”
They stayed that way for a minute, before Tina moved out from under Bette. “I told you not to have any wine before this party. We have to be level-headed when Alice attacks us with her ridiculous shenanigans.”
Bette watched Tina walk out of the room before collapsing face-first onto the bed. “Ughhhh.” The throbbing was painful. She hated getting everything wrong. Nothing seemed to go her way, but that was when she sat herself back up. What does she like? Oh crap, I don’t even know what my own wife likes! … This is beyond horrendous. Oh god. This is a nightmare. She thinks I’m so awful that I’m drunk? Then she calmed herself down and got back onto her feet. When the time is right, I’ll know … I’ll know, right?! Then with a laugh all to herself, Bette shook her head once more. Of course I’ll know.

Once they had finally arrived at the gallery and parked the car, Bette was floored. Even from the outside it was beautiful and intimidating, and she fell in love with it immediately. She had always enjoyed art, but this was something else. She felt something inside of her ignite.
“What on earth is that face for?” Tina chuckled, closing her car door and bringing her small purse up onto her shoulder. She followed Bette’s line of sight and smiled at the structure of the building. “Yeah, it is really nice. I don’t blame you for staring, baby.”
Bette’s eyes immediately went to Tina, and that beautiful blue dress she had on. It clung to her in all the right places, and was an even greater tease – Tina was a knockout. “… You don’t?”
When Tina turned to see Bette staring at her instead, she had to laugh. “No, I guess I can’t. Come on babe.”
Bette took her hand and together they walked into the gallery.

Seriously, so good. Bette is caught in limbo between her former life and her current life’s predicaments. It’s funny how she is judging herself (married Bette) about the possibilty of her wandering eye while in a committed relationship with Tina, despite her true past of just leaving Tina w/o explanation. What’s worse? Man, the inner turmoil is palpable. Great story, Bi!!
This story is so much deeper than the movie. I like the way Bette criticizes her married self. Also the fact that she can’t figure out -yet- what is that Tina wants to hear, but hopes that “in time” she will. She already is thinking future with Tina. Has she realized it? This story is the best Xmas highlight so far. (keeping my hopes up though..)
HI biissexi, I am so loving this tale. Bette’s confusion over everyday evnets and conversations is so funny. LOL moment aplenty. It is so sweet to read how close and intimate Bette and Tina are being at the party especially as Bette has been fearful of taking things to far to quickly with Tee. Candace really is the fly in the ointment here so I hope Bette squishes her completely. Alice was fun and typically lound and over the top. Perfect! I do hope she fills Bette in on more of her recent past with Tina and Angelica as Bette was heading to destruction with Candace leading the way. I can’t wait to read more so please post soon. Uh oh indeed! Since Aluce seems to know what’s going why won’t she provide Bette some background on her life , work , etc? Bette’s having a lot of close calls w/ Tina and I’m thinking one of her mishaps will end up with a very mad or confused Tina. Congrats on being done with éxams and thanks for the story update. Happy to see you made it thru exams. Congrats. Now a little R&R before you are thrown once more into the fray. When Bette said she wanted a little fresh air, I thought, OH hell, not now, Candace is watching for her moment. Sure ’nuff there the b***h is. Hope Bette will walk right past her and back inside very quickly before Tina comes and finds them. Maybe she can extricate herself before everything goes awry. Great update. I’m really enjoying this story. It’s a great take on a really good movie. Very inspired idea — gotta love the Bette twist on the Nicolas Cage role.
