    #FanficChallenge #Ep7 Telling Angie

Laughing, Tina agreed with her. “Oh, of that I have no doubt.” Nodding her head, she realized that as much as she wanted Carrie to be with her when they told her daughter they were getting married, her need was more for her benefit that Angie’s. Carrie’s thoughtfulness filled her heart. “Okay babe…once again you are my voice of love. I’ll talk to Bette, who I think will feel much better and less…intimidated? if we do it just the two of us.”

“Good…okay Cara, I must go. I love you and will see you tomorrow.”

“I love you too, Car. Text me your flight information and I’ll pick you up.”

    “Okay, ciao Bella.”

“Ciao Bella,” Tina responded, smiling as she disconnected from the call. She never thought she could love again, not like the love she’d had for Bette, but all she had to do was hear Carrie’s voice to know that she had been wrong. She’d met Carrie about a year after she left Bette, when Carrie had been hired to compose the soundtrack for a previous film Tina was producing. She remembered when they had been introduced at a pre-production party. Her heart had thundered in her chest when she looked into the kindest deep blue eyes, surrounded by thick black wavy hair, while at the same time, clasped a hand that felt both strong and safe. A hand that immediately felt like…home.

Their courtship was just like with much of the music Carrie composed, soft and gentle, comforting, until before you knew it, you were consumed by the melody as it grew in tempo and complexity, picking you up and cradling you through a whirlwind of notes that both excited and soothed you, capturing your heart and leaving you with an inexhaustible thirst for more. And, for as much as she had loved Bette…and oh, how Tina had loved Bette, theirs was always going to be tainted by actions they had both taken throughout their relationship. Tina knew leaving Bette to ‘find herself’ was a cliché, but clichés exist for a reason. When she met Carrie, she was in the space to be able to love without having to rely on all the dysfunction and constant need for forgiveness that was the backbone of the last ten years of her relationship with Bette.

    1. I have so much ambivalence towards these characters now because of the inability of the show writers to write a storyline for a committed couple. Marriage can be messy and difficult sometimes, it does not always end in divorce. People do have the guts and desire to stay in a situation albeit complicated because they do love each other deeply. I love the different perspectives and styles of the writers taking on this challenge, it is balm on a wound created by poor directionless writing that has made our an iconic couple’s storylines a cliche.

    2. Very brave to take this approach given the TiBetters have already made Carrie a hated character the likes of Jenny. Lovely story and gives background where the show writers miserably have failed. JB and LH are such wonderful actresses and know these characters so well that it is a shame the storylines are such a cliche.

    3. I’m feeling a little sick…..Every child of divorced parents i know have a desire that they be married and living together. That is true even if they have been fighting and screaming at one another while they were together. I cannot imagine a child of 16 thinking and responding like this.

If Angie did not think that Bette needed Tina, she would never have called Tina to come to Bette’s aid after the attack incident. In this, I see that Bette is sad about this, And if this is such the right thing for Tina to do, why is she having such a hard time getting the words out? Why are they catching in her throat?

I cannot see Tina walking away from Bette, divorcing her and leaving her child for two years for occasional visits and what daily phone conversations? This is not the Tina I know!

    4. this does indeed break my heart but this is really amazing and brave writing and i just love it for that reason. not sure how i see this woman who is somehow better for Tina than Bette but this is a great take on the usual show mearge offerings.. maybe if GEN Q gets a 3rd and 4th season we might see some sort of reunion but this tina remarrying situation is how the writers are dealing with LH limited availability – and an excuse to have JB giving us the full range of her acting skills. You are a brilliant writer Sea and you should keep writing –

    5. Well done and thank you for giving us a psychologically credible explanation of the truly dire Tibette storyline that the show’s ‘writers’ have developed. I want to write a fanfic myself, in which they end up happy ever after, and which respects the canon, but so far I got nothin! You are a really good writer, Seahurst, bravo

    6. Wow. This is the first of the entries I have read and, you, Seahurst, get the Les Fan Medal of Honor for tibette fanfic bravery. I haven’t figured out yet what I want to happen with B&T, but your great writing, as always, presents a very believable scenario. My one demand (HAH–as if) for future seasons is that Angie have ZERO heartbreak. Thanks for sharing that POV in your story. Hope to read more from you.
