Tina held the award up. “I could never forget her.”
“Ms. Kennard,” a reporter butted in. “Please, a picture with you and your award.”
“And my wife,” Tina added with a giggle.
She and Bette posed for a few photos and then began heading back to their seats.
“I wish you could have seen Helena’s and Jenny’s faces,” Bette said snickering.
Tina shushed her and then added, “I suppose I’ll have to face them at the after parties. Unless…”
“Unless what?” Bette asked, pausing at the entry to the main ballroom.
“Unless we skip the parties and go right home and have our own private celebration,” Tina said suggestively.
“With you all dressed up looking like a princess?” Bette asked. “No way. I’m taking you dancing and showing you off.”
Tina tugged her hand, keeping her from going further. “I like when you say that. I like that you want to show me off.”
Bette kissed her gently once more and touched one of the earrings. “Well you are my princess after all.”
“And you my fairy godmother.”
“Ah, but sweetheart, I don’t have a magic wand,” Bette teased.
Tina lowered her voice and nuzzled her ear. “Mmm, but you have magic fingers and a magic tongue.”
Bette shuddered and blushed. “Maybe we’ll skip the parties after all,” she said, and she winked before pulling Tina back out to the ballroom and over to their seats to watch the rest of the awards.
…and later that night as they lay skin on skin with the moonlight drenching the bed sheets and their bodies, they held each other in the aftermath of their lovemaking. They talked and whispered, giggled and wept until they began to drift to sleep.
Tina rolled and spooned Bette’s back and watched out the open window, noticing the sky was unusually clear, the stars unusually bright. And just before she closed her eyes she caught one star in particular winking brightly at her.
“Goodnight, Stell,” she whispered.
Indeed, a goodnight it would be…a goodnight, a good year, a good lifetime, for Tina had made a wish and found the courage and the love to see it through.
And, it is not at all a fairy tale to say, Tina and Bette lived happily ever after.

I know I’m two weeks late. Bad BenMac, bad girl! And I realize this chapter should have been broken into two chapters. But four is a factor of eight and eight is my special number. Also, I had this cool graphic I found on Twitter of Cinderella dancing with a princess, but I’m not skilled like Blackbird and don’t know how to upload it to the story. Bummer.
Anyway, this was fun to write and light and sweet with no tears. I have a single chapter short story that is soul crushing, but Dainty told me not to post it ’cause you all would storm my house if I posted a sad TiBette tale with a devastating ending. So I guess I’ll start to work on either the crime detective or high fantasy (both with happy endings!). I’m trying my hand at many genres so I can learn from them. And the zombies are still lurking somewhere in my notes.

2 weeks late – what’s 2 weeks! I’m sure I speak for many when I say I don’t mind waiting to read stories such as this written by you.
Thank you for this and all your other previous stories particularly, Bette’s 2nd Grade Crush, The Groves and , of course, the eternal rocks… You make me laugh, you make me cry, you scare me but most of all you entertain me.
I’m glad you did not split this into two Chapters, you spared us a wait for the next part. This was a great story to wake up to here in the UK and you’ve got my day off to a wonderful start, so, again, Thank You.

Fantastic chapter. Happy they did get together and undoubtedly will have a happy life together along with little Tinas’ and little Bettes running around. It was indeed a modern day fairy tale. I can imagine the three ugly roommates reactions when Tina won the award. Good for them for the way they treated her. Take care, hope you and family have a wonderful holiday season. I love happy endings, almost cried, I doubt if I cried, how are you still writing stories, wow you’re a great writer keep it up. I’m from Peru and I love your stories, but I like when there are tragedies.

That was absolute perfection. You my dear never disappoint. I know most of us want a happy ending for TiBette, but a sad story is okay to read, as long as it is not a story where they are cheating on one another, I can handle one of death and loss, it is a natural part of life, as long as there is some love and happiness before the sadness.

everything wrong that happened to me since 25, the provider
my internet has given cart when I was halfway
history, boom! be without internet again, and was now
finish with no problem.
My apologies for the belated reply…I haven’t been around much these last several months, but I just caught up with this one and wanted to comment on how spectacular a tale it has been. Cinderella was always my Disney favorite as a child. Also, I enjoyed seeing the earring plot make it into this story. It was a touching throwback to the show. I would ask if that was intentional, but after reading all of your stories, I don’t suppose I have to raise that question as your writing is always filled with thoughtful allusions.
