Feeling safe and wanted again – Chapter 19

“Okay. Are you hungry? I can make us something to eat.” Bette suggests.

“Yeah, actually I’m very hungry.” Tina replies.

“Okay, I’ll be right back with something to eat.” Bette replies and hurries into the kitchen.

She looked through the fridge, and didn’t find a lot, but she did find some eggs and bacon, so she decided to make some eggs and bacon. From the living room, she hears Tina and Evan talking and giggling. It was good to hear Tina laugh again.

15 minutes later she walks into the living room announcing that the food is ready.

An hour later Maryann walks back into the house. She finds them relaxing on the sofa, Bette awake with Tina’s head in her lap and Evan in Tina’s arms. They are sleeping. She smiles at Bette who smiles back. Evan is starting to wake up, she manages to get out from under Tina and she carefully lifts Evan up, so he won’t wake up his mommy. She then walks into the kitchen.

“Hey, could you hold him for a moment, I’m just going to cover Tina with a blanket.” Bette says as Maryann smiles, holding on to Evan.

    “Sure.” She replies.

Bette hurries back in to Tina and takes a blanket and carefully covers Tina. She seems to be sleeping very heavy, which Bette thought was very good. She needed a good rest now, before they tomorrow would start to pack down the house. She softly strokes Tina’s cheek and tucks a few strands of hair behind her ear and then walks back into the kitchen where she holds out her arms for Evan again.

“Hi, there, you are a happy kid aren’t you?” Bette whispers, smiling at him. He smiles back.

“I think he is.” Maryann agrees with a smile. “So, how is she doing?” She asks.

“She’s okay, but I can see that she’s doing her best to be strong, to show to the world that she is on top of all of this. But the truth is that I think she’s so scared and fragile and really want to break down. But I don’t think she’ll feel comfortable doing that yet. I mean we’ve only known each other for three weeks or so. She does feel safe with me, but I guess that she’s trying to hold on to her pride in a way.” Bette says as she holds Evan close.

    1. Oh No, the posting indicated five pages, but there was nothing on that page. Anyway back to the story, I am doing a happy dance of the two step, that Tina is on her way to Nashville, and it is so clear that Bette’s heart is going not only to Tina, but little Evan as well. But as I read that Tina’s true breakdown has not occurred, I have feeling when she does, she is going to blame Bette for things changing in her life.

    2. Hi Lauren, That was so good and enjoyable a read. Finally Tina is beginning to heal emotionally and Bette is there to lend a helping hand. I was misty eyed when Tina and Evan were reunited. More please. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
