“I was thinking about going to visit Kelly.” Tina hadn’t realized that she’d made up her mind until she actually said it.

“Are you ready for that?” Bette asked immediately concerned for the emotional impact seeing Kelly would have on Tina.

“I don’t know but I guess I won’t find out until I try. I heard from her lawyer that she wants to see me.”

“Maybe you should wait and let me go with you.” Bette offered.

“I think I’ll be fine but since you have to go to the prison anyway to see this patient why don’t we ride together? I’ll visit Kelly while you do your consult and then maybe we can ask Joyce to have lunch with us.”

“That sounds like a plan. I won’t know the situation with this patient or how long it will take until I get there but I’ll call you.”

“That’s fine. If you get tied up Joyce can pick me up. We’ll just meet up with you later.”

“OK but make sure you call Joyce. I don’t want you to be alone afterwards, especially if things don’t go well with Kelly.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll call Joyce. Thank you for wanting to take care of me.” Tina was touched by Bette’s overprotectiveness.

“I will always take care of you as long as you’ll let me. I love you.” Bette knew not to smother Tina.

“I love you babe. Why don’t you finish dressing while I make us some breakfast?”

Tina prepared a light breakfast of coffee, toasted bagels, fruit and juice. She has everything ready by the time Bette finished dressing. Bette walked into the casual dining room dressed in a classic navy blue pinstriped suit with a barely visible silk tank top under the jacket. Tina loved Bette in just about anything that she wears but she finds the professional business suit to be a real turn on.

Tina is dressed more casually in a loose fitting linen pantsuit. She’s wearing minimal make-up, earrings and a gold chain around her neck. The sandals on her feet show off the beautiful pedicure that she’d had done the day before. Since returning from Catalina Island spa treatments including pampering massages, manicures, pedicures and facials had become part of their weekly routine.

“Babe you look amazing. I love that suit on you.”

“Thank you sweetie. You look pretty amazing too.”

Bette and Tina eat breakfast, clear the dishes then get their things ready to leave the house. They get in Bette’s car and once they’ve settled in Bette turns on the radio to catch up on the day’s news. They both focus their attention to the voice on the radio reporting breaking news.

Newscaster: “Jodi Lerner who is serving 25 years without parole in the Los Angeles County Prison for the attempted murder of her ex-wife Tina Kennard was the victim of a brutal attack by two female inmates late last night. Her condition is reported to be critical but stable at this time. The artist and her lover Kelly Wentworth were arrested six months ago following the reappearance of the heiress to the Kennard fortune who had been presumed dead … “

Holy shit Jodi’s my new patient Bette thought then looked over at Tina just in time to see her reaction to the shocking news.
