    Its 3 weeks after Shane comes up with her plan. Things go well, but then something awful happens.

    Three weeks later at the Morales household..

     

    Are you sure? Mercedes asked.  

    Yes mami.  Ill be fine. Carmen answered. Her mother handed her the phone after knocking on the door of the room that Carmen had known since she was a little girl.  This would make the 4th time within 2 hours that Kit had called, and this latest time, she finally told Mercedes that she wanted to speak to Carmen about a djing gig.  Carmen relented and decided to talk to Kit because truth was, she was putting money aside to get her own apartment. She appreciated all that her mother and siblings had done since that horrible day almost three months ago when Shane stood her up.  But now, she wanted her own space.   After staying with Shane for all those months, she forgot how crowded her moms house could get.

     

    Hey Kit. Carmen spoke into the phone with little emotion. 

     

    Babygirl!  It is so good to hear your voice. How are you?  No, nevermind. That may be a stupid question, Im sorry.

     

    Its ok, Kit.  Im doing well, Im just doing.  How are the rest of the girls doing? Carmen really wanted to ask about Shane but didnt.  Curiosity got the best of Carmen many a day prior to talking to Kit.  She missed Shane terribly. Missed everything from her quiet glances across the room, to the way her hair would be tousled all over her head when she first woke up in the morning  But the pain was still very fresh.  And Carmen found herself reaching across the pillow even in her mothers house at night, expecting Shane to be on the other side of the bed.

     

    Everyone asks about you all the time at the Planet. We really really miss you Carmen. But we understand why you havent come around.  But listen, the reason Im calling is Russell Simmons has been calling me non-stop ever since you djed for him before and wants you to dj again! Kit explained.

     

    Carmens eyes grew big with excitement.  Hold on a second Kit.  YES! YES! YES!  Carmen squealed with delight in silence of her room.

    Carmen calmly said into the phone Im gonna need a little more details.

    2. Damn! Carmens going to think Shane stood her up …again, and Shane’s in a ditch on the side of the road. Wow! so heartbreaking. Loved this chap. Great room set up & choice of song by the way.

    6. Ah woman….what have you done…. causing Shane to be late, to have a car crash and then just leaving me hanging like that…No Fair. I can’t wait for your next chapter. Please make it soon.

    8. oh my gosh, i agree, no more hanging ;)i wonder if alice heard the crash on the phone and if she will catch carmen before she freaks out about shane ditching her again…
