Well for starters, he was so impressed with the way you handled his last gig, that he wants to pay you double for your time. This time hes throwing his own birthday party, and I hear there are going to be some major people there.  Its two weeks from Friday at Club Pizzazz off of Main Street.  (Club Pizzazz was set in the basement of a hotel called The Montclair, which was known for housing famous celebrities when they decided to visit the city). Its set for 7pm so if you could be there by 6 p.m. to set up, that would be great.  I mean, that is, if you decide to take the job, Kit said.

I am absolutely going to take the job and you tell Mr.Simmons that I will be there at 5:30! Carmen said excitedly.

Kit was excited for the publicity that Carmen would be sure to get, but she was also excited because she knew what else was awaiting Carmen at the party. If things went according to plan, theyd have more to celebrate than just Russells birthday.

Kit hung up the phone with Carmen in her office at the Planet.  She gave a thumbs up sign to Shane who had been sitting across from her during the conversation.  She released the breath that she didnt realize she had been holding.  She knew if she blew this opportunity, it may never come again.  She remembered when she met the girls at the Planet three weeks before, Kit had stopped her to let her know that Russell Simmons had been calling her about a big party that he wanted Carmen to DJ. Shane was not sure why Kit chose to tell her this information, but as soon as she heard it, she knew she had to plan something quickly.  She didnt expect Carmen to return her phone calls or even see her willingly right now, and though she didnt want to go behind her back, she knew that this night would be the perfect time to do something drastic to get Carmens attention.

Shane walked out to the friends who were waiting in the Planet.  Bette was the first to ask So? Did she agree to do the job? Shane pretended to look dejected before quickly breaking into a huge grin – YES!  This is the first glimpse of a chance that I have with her you guys.  And I appreciate you all willing to do what it takes to help me Shane said.  Are you absolutely sure you want to do it Shane? Alice asked.
