    Fix You…. Prologue

    Prologue

Dana smiled sincerely up at the mother and daughter pair as they praised Dana’s performance from her most recent match.

“Thanks so much for your support.  It was a good match on both sides.  Who should I make this out to?”

For the past half hour she’d been signing pictures of herself.  She’d just recently placed second at Wimbledon and was training for the upcoming US Open where she was expected to win it due to her tremendous fan base in the USA.  Kim, her agent, had set up this photo/signing session to help keep up Dana’s image as a down-to-earth celebrity who didn’t take her fans for granted.  Currently one of the hottest tennis players in the circuit, it was Dana’s goofy charisma and modesty that had garnered her the love of sports fans both in the US and abroad.  It was safe to say that Dana’s professional life was at its highest.  Dana’s personal life, on the other hand, was the complete opposite.  Back when she’d still been simply a promising young player she’d given an interview to a reporter.  At the time Dana had still been in the closet and was terrified of possibly ruining her career by coming out.  Following the interview with Dana the reporter abandoned her initial story about Dana being a rising tennis player to instead write an article exposing Dana as a lesbian.  Luckily her at the time new Subaru sponsors had jumped at the opportunity to make Dana into the “gay Anna Kournikova” by launching a “Get Out and Stay Out” ad campaign.  The gamble had been successful and along with a series of strong wins against ranked opponents Dana’s career had begun to truly blossom.  With the fame Dana found herself the new IT celebrity lesbian and was shocked when movie stars began approaching her for dates and more.  Young and single, Dana had taken up some such offers.  These days however, Dana found herself accepting little to no offers for dates or simple one-night-stands.  At 30 years old Dana longed for a meaningful relationship.  She was tired of going back to an empty house every day.  She longed for companionship in every sense of the word.

“I’m sorry, what did you say?”  Come on Fairbanks, focus!  These people have been standing in line for hours just to meet you for less than half a minute.  The least you can do is pay attention to what they’re saying.
