    The locksmith had just finished installing the lock and handed Bette the new keys. Before he left she turned out the lights and locked the doors testing the keys to make sure they worked properly. Everything was perfect. She had just completed the final preparations. She put the keys in a box and gift wrapped it with a bow. She wrote Act XIV on the card.

    This was the gift that Kristen had spotted on her desk. All she had to do now was to have the keys delivered to Tina and with the help of her friends lead Tina to the beachfront property where a surprise awaited her.

    Tina got a call from Leigh saying that she needed her to come to the condo because there was some property damage that she’d just discovered. Tina was sure that the condo had passed a thorough inspection prior to selling it to Leigh but she’d given Leigh 90 days after the close of the sale to report any problems. She’d committed to take care of them at her own expense. The 90 days would run out at the end of December, and with the holidays coming up Tina saw the urgency so she rushed right over.

    “Hey Leigh.”

    “Hey Tina. Thanks for coming over so quickly. I don’t know how we missed this during the inspection.”

    “What is it? You didn’t give me a lot of information over the phone.”

    “It’s best if you just see for yourself. It’s in the kitchen.” Leigh led Tina to the kitchen and walked over to the counter. She picked up the gift box and gave it to Tina.

    “What is this?” Tina asked. She opened the card and saw ACT XIV written on it. She looked at Leigh curiously. She knew it had to be from Bette but she didn’t understand what was going on.

    “I’m sorry for the ruse Tina. There isn’t any damage I just needed to find a way to get you over here so I could deliver the gift. This note is from Bette it might explain more.” Leigh handed her and envelope. She opened the envelope and read the card. The only thing it said was not to open the gift box until she got to the “final destination”. Bette’s note said that she would get the clue leading to the final destination the next time she saw her.

    4. This was one of the best chapters to this story! In my opinion! Even though I love the whole story! I’m sad to see the end tomorrow:( I’m just looking forward to the next phrase of their lives. Off to eat me some strawberry shortcake that I made. PPS
