Shane paced restlessly on the patio. She had no idea why Bette and Tina asked her to come over for lunch alone the invitation/command was delivered. ‘Bette and I want to talk to you alone’ Tina said without preamble on the phone. She mumbled something like sure and told ‘we’ll see you about one for lunch at our house’.
What they were meeting about she had no idea and no one to bounce it off. So she paced. The screened section of the patio was set for the meal with three place settings. She paced outside the screen room and smoked where she could see the ocean which calmed her.
She turned when she heard the door slide open. Tina carried Laurel in a light yellow summer blanket and Bette still glowing that amazing glow closed the door. Shane thought that she had seen the ultimate Tibette moment when she saw them one morning after they had made love realized that she only had a glimpse of the love these two shared.
She hurried toward them and opened the door to the screen room for them.
There was a bassinet nearby that Tina placed Laurel in before sitting down with them.
Bette and Tina proceeded to pile their plates with salads: green, shrimp, lobster, and tuna as well as thin breads and crackers.
Shane couldn’t think about food right now. She took the plunge as quickly as she could. “So guys, what’s up?”
“Not hungry?” Bette observed stuffing her face with a forkful of green salad while noting Shane’s empty plate.
“No, I ate yesterday.”
Tina was still on her guard with their friends. She did not think Bette would notice but she did and it irked her to watch them become dazed by Bette. Shane she noted carefully avoided looking at either of them.
“I could use something to drink” Shane admitted her mouth felt so dry.
Tina saw the slight termer as she lifted the pitcher of lemonade and felt compassion.
“Let me get that for you” she deftly took the handle and Shane’s glass and poured her a drink.
Shane held the glass with both hands and after draining it found the courage to look at Tina and then Bette.
Nodding encouragingly Tina offered her some food.
“I made all the salad’s I think the Lobster came out best, what do you think babe?” She looked at Bette.
“They are all good” Bette continued eating. Her appetite had increased during pregnancy and she liked to eat light and often.
Tina placed a spoon of each salad and a variety of crackers and breads on Shane’s plate before returning to her own meal.
Shane took a bite of Lobster salad on a cracker and soon she cleared her small plate.
“We were wondering” Bette began how you would feel about being a God Mother?”
“Huh?”
“We would like you to be Laurel’s Godmother.”
“Really?” A dozen thoughts flooded Shane’s mind. “I’m not very religious. I don’t know if I could be a God Mother.”
“Could you agree to look out for Laurel over her life?”
“Yeah.”
“”Would you step in for Tina or me if one of us weren’t there and she needed you?”
“Of course” Shane answered heatedly. How could they doubt that?
“Sounds like you meet the criteria to be a Godmother to me” Tina shrugged.
“Me, too” Bette agreed.
“What about Kit?”
“Kit is her aunt as well as Angie’s.”
“So do you have an answer?” Tina pressed.
“Wow” Shane got up and went over to the bassinet where Laurel slept. Her innocence pierced her. She was overcome with emotion. Bette and Tina wanted her to be a mother to their child. “I would be honored” Shane responded careful not to let her voice crack.

Tina ia so very protive of her three girls. Shane will make such a good God mother. She will protive her with her life. I really dont want this to end,can’t you do something about it????? thanks

Shane may be a player but she’s loyal to her friends, (okay leave ep 512 out of it), I think she’s a great choice, and I liked your definition of God Mother. Cute how you picked Laurel as the name. How could anyone not love these two together.

I love this chose for Godmother of Laurel (love the name for the baby). Shane would make a wonderful keeper of Bette and Tina plus their special child Laurel. Angie will always be their baby girl and will always have the protection of the girls. With Alice’s mouth, Laurel will need special attention.
Shane being Laurels God Mother is perfect! now we have Alice and Shane to protect this little one! sweet! pps
This is the first time that Shaney will feel part of a family. She had always wanted to have one, but her own blood never showed her the proper care and attention she so needed when she was growing up. The thoughtful gesture that her friends have shown would touch Shaney inside and she would do her very best to be the most protective and supportive Godmother that Laurel could have. B&T made the right choice. Shane’s loyalty to them had always been present. This task will bring all those repressed feelings that Shane has not been able to give anyone in particular. But, an innocent infant will always bring the very best of her to the surface. She will never doubt to put Laurel’s best interests first. Thanks for this beautiful update. It made our hearts swell for Shane and we have a wide smile on B&T’s decision. This is great K! You are making this story glow more on each chapter that you are writing.
