    Chapter 12

     

    Intervallo

    The smile Bette presented Tina all but completely undid the blonde.

     

    “Hi.”  Bette said as she stood from the table.

     

    Kit tried to tone down the huge smile on her face as she excused herself to send Patti over with the wine; not that either mommy comprehended her words.

     

    “You look amazing!”  Bette said suddenly feeling a little nervous. 

     

    Tina, with her shy smile, dropped her head briefly before scanning the brunette’s full length then meeting Bette’s eyes with her reply.  “So do you.”  She said softly.  Bette in fitted jeans was enough to keep her smiling until the new millennium.

    Patti had halted her mission to deliver the wine to the table when she discovered the two women still standing and smiling at each other.  She backed up a few paces to stand out of view of the couple while watching and waiting for them to take their seats.  Setting down the service tray, she pulled out her mobile and texted Laney.

    Patti: r u seeing this? 

    Laney was perched on a high stool in the darkened DJ booth.  She had started the special mix of background instrumentals and settled back with a clear view through the café to the table for two.

    Laney:  yep

    Bette gestured to the chair before pulling it back for the blonde to take a seat.

     

    “Thank you.”  Tina said as she brushed her hand over the back of her dress to ease into the chair.  Halfway in her descent she sprang back up remembering the flowers in her hand.

     

    “OH!”  Tina exclaimed, startling the brunette who was focused on the backside view bending before her.

     

    Tina turned sharply to face Bette whose grip on the chair now served to help her maintain her balance.  “These are for you!”  Tina rushed to explain pushing the lilies forward within an inch of the brunette.

     

    Bette pulled back reflexively with the sudden presence of the flowers right under her nose.  Her eyes had widened then focused narrowly on the bouquet.  Just as she was about to take the offered lilies, they were pulled away as sharply as they had appeared.  She looked over find a very blushing blonde near panicked.

I love this story. they both just turned into nervous nellies over the bouquet and Tina talking to herself was so sweet, just adorable, in fact, all of them are, including the children. Hope Bette asks her to dance before too long. They do fit so nicely together. Great chapter. Thanks for posting. PPS

    5. Although Tina blushed a zillion times per second, she still managed to ask the right questions. I guess she will work miracles when more at ease…! And when she gets confident…(should avoid thinking about that right now-too bothering..off to work).

    6. I am absolutely loving this story. I see that there is another chapter waiting for me to read it. I love how the other characters are adding to the storyline.
