FOREVER I PROMISE: Chapter 36
Tina called Whits cell. Thank God she was working on patrol tonight. Whit took down Bettes vehicle information from Tina and promised to find her before hanging up.
Tina paced back and fourth until it was time again to feed the twins. Picking little Jordan up in her arms placing him on the changing table she removed his diaper. Before she knew it he had peed in her face. Tina started to laugh at how he always got Bette, but never her because she knew to keep him covered. Her laugh quickly changed to tears. Missing Bette and so worried. She fed Jordan and rocked him to sleep. Then she changed and fed Amy Jo. As she rocked her in her arms everything ran through her mind.
Why is this happening to us. Havent we suffered enough. Then the thought of Bettes brain scan tomorrow. What if Bette doesnt come home? What if she runs and doesnt go for the scan? What if she does go and its bad news. What will they tell us? More chemo or she only has weeks, months, or a year left together as a family? Then Tina began to let her thoughts consumed her. How will I take care of our babies alone? How can I live without Bette?
Tina having rocked Amy Jo to sleep placed her in her crib and kissed them both good night. Her tears dripping onto their covered. Tina went into the bedroom. She crawled into their bed and grabbed Bettes pillow. She inhaled as hard as she could to breathe in Bettes scent. Tina laid they until she cried herself to sleep.
Whit had everyone looking for Bettes car. Finally another Officer spotted the vehicle occupied and radioed Whit giving her the location. It was actually the park not far from Bette and Tinas home.
Whit pulled up behind Bettes car and with her headlights could see she was alone. Whit approached the vehicle with caution, but only because it was her Officer Safety training that she never forgot. Whit shined her flashlight into the back seat and then shined it on Bette. Once Whit was convinced that all was well she lightly tapped on Bettes window.
