Hollywood, Dana’s House.

I decided to go home after dropping Tina off. My mind went to Bette, what had she been up to with this guy? There was no doubt in my mind that Bette would ever be unfaithful. Tina was her world and worshiped the ground she walked on. I decided to shower while I waited for Lara to get home, she left early since Tina and I left abruptly.

“Dana, why’d you and Tina leave early?”

“Oh because we saw Bette there with some guy and they were holding hands. Tina got upset and I drove her home. I don’t get what’s going on. Why would Bette be doing this?”

“Fuck,” Lara said with a scared look.

“Is there something you’re not telling me?”

“No, nothing at all,” Lara said and quickly walked towards the bathroom.

“Lara, I know you, you hate to lie.”

“Baby, it’s not my place to say anything.”

“What do you mean? Is it about what Bette is doing with that man,” I asked and she just shrugged, “you can’t do that. We are to be married, to be one person; you can’t hide things from me.”

“Baby please don’t put me in this position. Don’t put me in the middle of you and our friends.”

“Lara you’re already in the middle.”

“I know, but what I was told was in confidence and I can’t break Bette’s trust.”

“What you know could destroy Bette and Tina’s relationship if Tina doesn’t know.”

“Right, it’s not my place to say anything. Bette has to deal with this on her own because this will probably be the biggest issue they face.”

“What are you talking about,” I asked and Lara stayed silent, “you can’t do this. This is my family, if they are in trouble I need to know. Tina is like my sister, I’ve known her for ten years, if I can save her I will.”

“Only Bette can,” Lara said, we heard Bex calling for her and she got up and left, she came back with the baby on her hip, “this is a Bette issue, she doesn’t want to put Tina under any undue stress for no reason; she wants to make sure that she has all the facts before she lets Tina in. Her family is what’s most important to her; you know that, she has a great deal to undertake before her issue comes to light.”
