    Bette’s proposed new mission in life gets a life of its own

    Chapter 3 – The Mission Statement

    Bette is sitting in a tall backed upholstered chair waiting. She was in her attorneys office and they had just completed one of the most important meetings of her life. It had taken weeks to get to this point. Weeks of careful planning with her attorney to finally get this venture off the ground. It strikes her as funny and puts a wry grin on her face, up until this very moment she felt like she was on a fast forward treadmill. Once the idea started to form in Bettes head she focused all her energies to come up with a plan of action that would be plausible yet give her the distance she desired. If Melvin knew what an opportunity his dying would create for her, he would be rolling over in his grave. It wasnt until this exact moment now that she knew there was a higher power that was able to lead you in the right direction. For how else would she be here and for what other reason was there for all the pain, loss, grief and agony? Up until this very moment she felt that she was the puppet with someone pulling her strings. Now she felt a benevolent energy, she wanted to be the change agent which would have Tinas best interest at heart. The untimely death of her father had been devastating to Bette but now it all seemed to be yet another step in the path she was destine to take. She had a plan and now thanks to Melvin she had the means to execute this plan. She was going to open all the right doors to support and fulfill Tina and her new babys life. That was the secret mission statement of her new venture.

    Jack, Bettes attorney walks back into his office, he had just walked out the board members of the new foundation that Bette had put together. The Motif Yen Valor Foundation to be known as the MYV Foundation was created as a philanthropic entity devoted to the betterment of human kind. The MYV Foundation was started with a donation from Bette Porter. This was a fact that Bette wanted to keep a secret. Because she wanted to distance herself Bette had insisted that foundation have a board that consisted of outstanding and well thought of members of the community. With Bettes ties from her activity as Director of the CAC she was able to successfully induce a broad spectrum of experiences to complete her board. She had CEOs of major corporations as well a Director of Public Services, thought leaders in area of humanities and also a well know spiritual leader. The mix of influences on the board would assure the success of the prime mission of the MYV Foundation. This prime mission was to increase the awareness of the plight of the inner city communities with the aim of advancing human welfare. The Foundation hopes that its collective work in any program area could lead toward systematic change. They had just concluded the first board meeting of the MYV Foundation.

    3. I think that Tina will definitely take the job as Director, no matter if she was with Helena or not; her passion to help people will definitely overcome being a stay at home mom. Plus Helena will hopefully be booted to the curb soon once Tina knows Bette was there….and yeah, I love this story!!

    6. really amazing. i didn’t post on the one before cause i read them in succession, but i loved the flowers and that tina is still thinking of bette. and i have to agree with seahurst on this chapter, it seems like bette is still trying to control things a little. fantastic story. please post more soon!

    7. Interesting…now that Bette’s pulling some strings, she needs to come out from behind the curtain and speak with Tina, in an unofficial capacity, of course.

    8. I agree with others you may be setting Bette up to be seen as controlling once again – sweet as it is. Love the baby’s name and the fact these two are still so connected and wanting to be.

    10. Okay obviously some people think Bette is being controlling, but her intentions are so amazing. Like Down Low said she is dedicating her life to help Tina’s. I believe as long as she gives Tina the opportunity freely and doesnt expect anything in return why not? And to think that someone loves you that much, wow.

    11. Is Bette controlling Tina’s life still, or is she creating an opportunity for Tina…which, by the way, Tina can turn down if she isn’t interested. For all Bette knows, since Tina is with Helena, she might choose to stay at home, rather than work…so all her efforts might be for naught. Love this story already!

    15. Imagine losing someone, but loving them so much…that you would dedicate your life and your resources to making the rest of their life happy. This beautiful concept just blows me away.
