GETTING TO THE GOOD PART—Ch. 1
Bette and Peggy walked towards the patio. “If you need help reaching anyone in particular I’d be happy to help.”
“Well I had someone lined up but I don’t think it’s going to work out. The next show is still somewhat up in the air.”
They passed by a room that was full of paintings, she was able to recognize the few that were hanging in the hall way and in the den, but she hadn’t ever seen these paintings before she was sure of it.
Peggy was a few paces away from Bette when John intercepted her.
“Ms. Peabody you have a phone call from Ms. Helena.”
Peggy sighed, “I’ll be right there. Bette please excuse me the patio is down this hall off to the left I’ll be with you shortly.”
Bette turned away from the room and smiled at Peggy. “Okay.”
Peggy walked further away but Bette was still rooted to the ground. She walked into the room mesmerized by the paintings on the wall. The room wasn’t so much a room as it was a storage room, Bette walked further in finding more paintings leaning against the wall. She found one painting in particular that she couldn’t take her eyes off of.
The painting was of a cherry tree in blossom surrounded by several other trees, it was one of the larger paintings hanging on the wall but the size of the oil painting wasn’t what captured Bette’s attention. The breathtaking use of colors for the cherry tree in the center evoked a sense of warm sweetness of a swaying tree in spring rather than meticulously documenting it. The surrounding trees were bathed in a pale red light surrounded by a barren ground devoid of the vibrant flowers found beneath the cherry tree in the center. Even the heavy skies were symbolic…there was a sense of devastation that corresponded to the emotional reaction the artist was feeling. An angry scarlet surrounding such a beautiful cherry tree, but there was also a sense of security in the picture beyond the dark scarlet sky on the right corner of the painting was a tiny patch of clear blue sky.
She didn’t know how it was possible that she hadn’t seen this painting or any of the others before. Bette leaned in closer and saw the artist’s signature on the lower right hand corner.
“Kennard…” Bette was racking her brain searching for this artist’s name but nothing came to mind.
“Excuse me are you lost?”
Bette turned back towards the doorway. “No I…”

HEY T! YOU HAVE ANOTHER WONDERFULL STORY STARTING AND IT SHOULD BE QUIET INTERESTING TK AN ARTIST.YOU CANT LEAVE US HANGING.you said you had alot things going on butt you have to find the time to come back for updates for both stories..tk a daughterinlaw not for long with bette around!
this is an awesome start – the pacing of this story is so wonderful but it is hard to be left hanging. So glad you wrote this.
Toribio…this was absolutely wonderful. It really evoked images of what your narration describes. I hope you’ll continue it. If you do, it is sure to be one of the seminal pieces. It grabbed me…it’s really quite good. Please continue.
Oh, no you didn’t just leave me hangin like that! Hmph, the nerve! LOL! Come on, you’re killing me here! I have tpo know if it was Tina she turned around and saw. i bet it was…. uess I’ll have to wait and see. Please post soon!
Oh no… daughter in law? wife to Roger? Huh? So many questions that need to be answered… so PPS :D
i think you should continue with that…so tina is a daughter-in-law? and this is her who just came in? i hope bette won’t get involved with helena again
Wow! Absolutely fabulous!! I was immediately hooked! Thanks!
Very good start! i am waiting Bette meet properly the artist Kenard!
I agree with everyone else…you must continue this soon…I hope Tina isn’t married to Helena…
Great first chapter waiting for the next one…(ok impatiently waiting) thank you!!
WOW!!! This story is going to be fun!!!!! Thanks
You BETTER continue this, or I WILL hunt you down… said with love, of course. ;)
Love the sound of this, but please tell me that Tina is Peggy’s ex-daughter-in law and not with Helena.
wow i must been really busy to miss this…great writing as usual…continue.
loving the story. so come on now, don’t leave me hangin’ here. Please continue.
That was wonderful. Tina is an artist and Peggy daughter in law How long will it take Bette to win Tina? thanks for this awesome story
yeah, TK as an artist, what a great idea? wonder how she’s Peggys daughter in law though, is that by Helena or by Peggys son? please post soon!
This story is going to be full of twists and turns. Bette has to meet with Helena 3 times a month and TIna is an artist, who is Peggy’s daughter in law…..interesting. How long before Bette gets Tina to express her “artistic” abilities in a personal setting ? LOL! Please continue….
Yes you should continue this story. I believe that Bette has found her next artist for the upcoming show. I hope that Tina is not with Helena and that the daughter in-law statement was more of a passing issue. It would not be a good situation for Bette to take Tina away from a Peabody.
A T&B beginning, love them. I hope you continue with this one…Tina is PP’s Daughter-in-Law, now is it through Helena, PP has another Daughter or is it the Son. And to top it T is an Artist. Great Start, looking forward to reading more. Thanks.
I’m hooked! I love any story that features Bette and Peggy. But better than that I love the twist you’ve put on things w/ Bette having already had a failed relationship w/ Helena. This should be very interesting…..Is Tina married to Helena or does Peggy have other children? So excited to read where you go with this story. You are off to a great start so please continue.
Damn this is good and interesting start and like it. Hope Tina not married to Helena anymore. Ok post soon please, thanks!
you cant stop there….love the idea of tina as an artist. pps
What a great start..I can’t wait for more.
Wow T this sounds like another great story! Franklin is an ass through and through. And it’s really not cool for Peggy Peabody to force her daughter in Bette’s face – it’s unethical on Peggy’s part to put Bette into that position. Peggy should pay to have her daughter educated elsewhere…you know she could tell that Bette didn’t want to do this part of the “proposition.” I wonder if Peggy has alterior motives. Tina as an artist sounds very inspirational. Can’t wait for more!
Het Tori, A brilliant beginning. Fabulous to have the gang together and having a blast. Bette was overwhelmed by the beauty she saw on the beach and here’s hoping it is the same beauty now asking her if she needs some assistance. Terrific twist to have Tina (I hope) as the artist even if Bette has to put up with teaching Helena about art. Maybe Bette could use Tina’s paintings as an illustration. Getting to know the painter can only help appreciate the art. As always you have crafted a beautiful drama here. Full of promise and excitment. Please continue soon. A Fan.
erm…can we make a decision after a second chapter? :D please? :D
