    Ghosts of the Six-Year Void

Bette steps fully into the room and loops an arm around Tina’s waist, leaning in for a gentle kiss. “Uh, yeah,” Bette murmurs, “Sorry, I’m late.”

Tina brushes a smudge of her crimson lipstick from Bette’s mouth and offers a polite, if slightly tense, smile. “It’s all right. So, how do you two know each other?”

GiGi glances at Bette, uncertainty flickering in her eyes. “So…would you like me to give you two a minute?”

Bette nods gently, a faint rueful grin on her lips. “Yeah, that might be a good—”

Tina holds up a hand, shaking her head. “No, no need for that. Let’s get started.” She settles back in her chair, her tone businesslike but not unkind.

GiGi inclines her head, her professional mask slipping back into place. “Are you sure? I mean, it’s no problem if you’d rather work with someone else—”

Tina glances briefly at Bette, as if checking in. “It’s fine. Unless it’s an issue for you?”

Bette’s mouth curves into a reassuring smile. “It’s fine.”

Tina nods and meets GiGi’s gaze. “We’re good.”

A genuine smile blooms on GiGi’s face, and she gestures toward the two chairs in front of her desk. She then takes her own seat again. “Great, let’s take a look at some properties.” She clicks open a folder and brings up glossy photos on her laptop screen.

As GiGi taps through images, Bette unbuttons her suit jacket and leans forward, her eyes catching on a framed photograph perched near GiGi’s computer. The image shows a smiling woman, GiGi’s partner, Natalie, surrounded by two energetic children. Bette’s features soften. “How’s Natalie? And the kids?”

GiGi’s face brightens with genuine affection. “Nat’s doing wonderfully, thanks. The kids are growing up faster than I ever imagined.” She pauses, fingers hovering over the keyboard, then looks back at Bette. “How’s everyone on your end? Alice, Shane, Dana?”

Bette’s shoulders relax, and she nods. “They’re all good.” Her voice carries a tender warmth.

GiGi’s smile grows broader as she returns to her laptop. “Give them my love, will you?”

    “Of course,” Bette replies.

GiGi’s fingers dance across the keyboard as she looks at Bette and nods towards Tina, offering a knowing smile. “Congrats…”

    1. Very happy to read a new chapter!

Love how you put Gigi in the story. It was besides Bette and Tina, the gang and Nathalie one of the characters i liked.

Both of them are very possessive of each other, love the term “six-year void”

Michelle, still dumb and arrogant to think Bette will talk to her after all the shit she put her through. I didn’t feel sorry for her at all.

    2. More, please!

Agree with other comments that bringing Gigi/Natalie back to the edges of the main characters was a great idea..

I’ve missed my fix on the best characters. And really love that stories are still being written here 20+ years since they were introduced to us!

      Thanks everyone!!!!
