    Summary:
    As Bette and Tina begin planning their future together, subtle reminders of the past start to poke at their carefully rebuilt bubble.

     

    Bette nods, watching the liquid swirl in her glass. “There it is…” Her tone softens.

     

    Tina doesn’t say a word; she looks at Bette expectantly.

     

    Bette sighs before she begins. “GiGi and Nataile were once upon a time divorced. Alice and Natalie started dating…during that time, everyone was half terrified I’d never step out of my grief. Alice begged me to go on a date with Natalie’s ex… and I went…”

     

    Tina slowly nods. “So, what was the nature of your relationship with her? I mean was it serious?”

     

    Bette chuckles and shakes her head. “Hell no, I was nowhere near ready for that…and neither was she….” She then turns and looks at Tina and shrugs. “We had sex…the nature of our relationship was fucking…”

     

    Tina shifts in her seat. “But she obviously sorta knew who I was, so you guys had to have had some kind of connection for you to talk about me….”

     

    Bette’s gaze drifts to the glass but her voice is unwavering. “She knew I was drowning in guilt and still in love with my ex. And she, I could tell, wasn’t over Natalie either. She was still in love with her. Our connection was that we were both hopelessly, immovably in love with our ex-wives. We were the distraction the other needed.…”

     

    Tina nods and drops her head. “Got it…” She then looks at Bette. “She’s impressive…gorgeous…” She shrugs. “It wouldn’t have surprised me if she were something more to you…”

     

    Bette sighs. “Like I said, I think we were exactly what the other needed in that moment…I don’t think we were meant to be anything more than that….”

     

    Tina softly nods, then rubs her face in frustration as she turns to look out into the backyard. “Fuck…”

     

    Bette creases her brows. “What?”

     

    Tina looks at Bette. “I don’t know…I guess I’m starting to realize that every now and then something or someone is going to come along and burst through our little bubble and remind us that the six-year void exists….”

     

    Bette sips her drink. “Yeah, it could come in the form of our baby girl having a moment of nostalgia…”

     

    Tina smirks. “Or in the form of a gorgeous real estate agent who is annoyingly good at her job….”

    2. Very happy to read a new chapter!

      Love how you put Gigi in the story. It was besides Bette and Tina, the gang and Nathalie one of the characters i liked.

      Both of them are very possessive of each other, love the term “six-year void”

      Michelle, still dumb and arrogant to think Bette will talk to her after all the shit she put her through. I didn’t feel sorry for her at all.

      Agree with other comments that bringing Gigi/Natalie back to the edges of the main characters was a great idea..

      I’ve missed my fix on the best characters. And really love that stories are still being written here 20+ years since they were introduced to us!
