Giving Up Or Giving In – Part 3

‘Now?  Well we’re just starting to communicate, I do want her to be there but it may be too soon.  Do you have to know before I come?’

‘Okay, I’ll definitely be there.  Thank you.’

As Bette got up for more coffee she noticed Tina.

    ‘Good morning.’

    ‘I didn’t mean to eavesdrop.’

‘That was a therapists office, I had called for an appointment, they had a cancellation so they called to see if I could come in tomorrow.  I must have sounded desperate when I called.’

‘Why did you say it might be too soon to include me?  Was it because you don’t think this is going to work?’

‘No, not at all, I just didn’t know how you would feel.  The call caught me off guard; my appointment wasn’t for another two weeks.  I thought I would talk to you about it once you got settled.’

‘I’d like to go, unless you want to go alone.’

‘Actually, she likes to see couples together and also in individual sessions.  It’s not with Foxworthy.’

    ‘That’s fine.’

    ‘You’ll go?’

‘No matter what happens between us we are having a child.  We have things we need to resolve before we can move on, together or separately.’

‘Therapy it is then!  Now, what would you like for breakfast?’

‘You hate going to the market.’

‘You said you wanted things to be different, so I’m trying.’

    ‘Yes, yes you are.’

Bette couldn’t believe Tina had actually agreed to buy the new mattress at the first store they went to.  They had left the house, Tina armed with the paper and a list of stores having sales.  Bette was not a sale shopper; Tina on the other hand could comparison shop with the best.  Bette had always hated it when Tina drug her all over trying to find the best sale.  But today Bette had decided she would go to every shop in LA if that’s what it took to make Tina happy.  So here they were forty minutes later, mission accomplished.

    ‘Where to now T?’

    ‘What?’

‘You’re looking through the ads, is there somewhere else you want to go?’
