    Goodbye Party (15)

”She’s the one who did it!” Bette cried shooting up out of her chair.

”That’s a leap,” Eric said. ”Nikki could have done it and made up that Dylan story to cover up.”

”Nikki definitely had more motive than Alice,” Tina said. ”Jenny ruined her entire career.”

Bette shook her head. ”It wasn’t Nikki. She barely even knew Dylan, she met her once when she did that test for Helena so why out of all people would she mention Dylan? It makes sense if she would have mentioned that bitch Adele.”

    ”You’re right,” Tina said.

”Dylan was with Helena,” Bette said, ”they were living together. Why would Dylan just up and leave all of a sudden right when Jenny gets killed?”

”Hmm,” Eric said, ”that’s a real compelling case but it has no basis to hold in court. Nikki refused to take a lie detector test and there was no DNA evidence to prove Dylan was even there.”

”Bullshit! So she gets away with it while Alice gets convicted?” Bette cried.

”There’s nothing I can do unless there’s some proof that Dylan was there, if not I have to work my ass off to save Alice,” Eric said.

”I’ll walk you out, I gotta go pick up Angie,” Tina said.

”Hey Bette don’t despair, if Alice is innocent we’ll get her out of this,” Eric said. ”I’ll tell Duffy what you said about Dylan.”

”I just don’t want Alice to get blamed,” Bette said, ”she’s my best friend and I love her.”

    New York City General Hospital

”She said that?” Alice said in awe.

”She defended you right from the start Al,” Tina said looking down at Bette’s prone body on the hospital bed with tubes all over her body.

Alice sat down beside Bette and caressed her cheek gently. ”I didn’t know you actually cared about me Porter. I always thought you thought I was annoying. And here you are, in a coma unable to wake up. And we don’t know if you can hear us or if you can even wake up, but we won’t lose hope. You never lost hope in me even though America’s justice system turned its back on me. I love you too Porter, and you’re the one I missed the most all those years in the slammer.”
