Goodbye Party-Chapter 9

"Amazing dinner," Alice said, "thanks for bringing me."

"I just thought we should celebrate," Tasha said raising her glass.

"Celebrate what?" Alice said.

"I’ve been thinking about what you said on our last date," Tasha said. "L.A was such a negative, horrible place. After all the pain and suffering starting over in a new place is the only way to truly move on."

"You’re considering staying here with me in New York?" Alice said in surprise.

"Yes," Tasha said, "in fact even better, I had an interview at the NYPD. I got the job almost as soon as the captain opened my file."

"Oh my God Tasha!" Alice cried happily pulling Tasha into a firm kiss on the lips from across the dinner table.

Tasha broke the kiss with a smile. "I’ll be getting benefits and I’m starting an apartment search tomorrow. Look I know we’re just rekindling our romance and everything, but I bet it’s getting crowded at Bette and Tina’s place. It’ll be even more so once Bette has the triplets. I’m thinking maybe you can stay in my guest bedroom until we decide to sleep in the same bed."

"I’ll have to think about that Tash," Alice said, "I have three interviews tomorrow, I want to have a job before I make a decision. If I agree to be your roommate I want to pay rent as such."

"Right, the actual uhual would include like joint accounts and buying furniture and curtains together," Tasha said. "This is not that. We’re roommates who are dating and that’s all–for now. That’s assuming you agree to move in."

"It depends on how it goes in my interviews," Alice said.

"Where are the interviews?" Tasha asked.

"I got an early morning one at the New York Times, at noon I have one at the Post, and in the afternoon I have one at the Journal," Alice said.

"Wow those are really good newspapers Alice!" Tasha cried.

"Well they all want to do a story on me," Alice said. "Evidently the news that I was released from prison after spending seven years as a convicted murder for a crime I didn’t commit got out, and I was bombarded with reporters.
