Great Unexpectations Chapter 18
Previously…
"I’d like you to give this to Faye Buckley. My sister cashed the check you brought to her. This is how she spent the money. Tell Faye that she can use this to get herself a nice tax deduction and to please leave Kit, Tina Kennard, and myself alone."
Mr. Jenkins looked at her blankly. He wasn’t accustomed to being ordered around and didn’t take kindly to having it come from a woman at that.
Seeing that he was giving no response Bette walked slowly closer to him. She looked into his grey eyes and she did not blink. "Have I made myself clear?", she asked coldly. She did not wait for a response, simply slapping the receipt down on his desk and turning to leave.
After she left the building, she exhaled deeply. She put on her sunglasses and smiled proudly to herself while getting into her car. That should take care of that. She did not notice the storm clouds gathering in her rearview mirror. Back in his office, Mr. Jenkins employed both hands. One picking up the receipt and the other dialing his desk phone. He studied the receipt closely as he waited for Faye Buckley to answer.
Chapter 18.
The next few days were a flurry of work, movers, packing boxes and take-out dinner. Before long though Angie and Tina were officially and completely moved back in. They celebrated with a nice family dinner and swimming in the pool. As night fell they all gathered on the sofa and put in one of Angie’s favorite Blue’s Clues DVD’s. Bette and Tina sat closely together and Angie sat on their combined lap enjoying her show. She would occasionally shout to the TV in response to the urging of the silly guy wearing the striped shirt. Bette and Tina gazed into each other’s eyes and kissed tenderly as Angie yelled vociferously at the screen from their lap.
After they’d put Angie to bed they returned to the sofa and poured themselves a glass of champagne. "Welcome home, Tina." Bette said as she held out her glass. Tina’s eyes welled up with joy. "This is the only home I’ve ever wanted, Bette. You know that right?" Bette leaned in and met Tina’s moist lips. The soft smell of Bette’s perfume intoxicated Tina and filled her mind with nothing but thoughts of ravaging her. "You better set your glass down, babe. Or it’s gonna get spilled", Tina warned through tiny breaks in the kiss. Bette promptly obeyed, reaching over to set it safely on the coffee table. In her haste to return to Tina’s kiss she swung her arm and knocked the glass over. "So much for that", Bette said as they giggled, still kissing. The champagne quickly settled into the fabric as Bette and Tina, being occupied with other activities, did their best not to care.

i think i know where this story is going-i like it
Oh red, I’m so intrigued by your tangled little web… I’ll have to save my guess for the next chapter. Love your writing!
Faye Buckley is still a b_ _ _ _, and so is her mama. Thanks!
I’m even more confused than before, but will continue to read anyway. This is a very interesting tale. PPS
Great update and a little confusing. Still can’t figure what she is up to and I hope she is not planning to hurt the girls in some way. Maybe a foundation to help the LGBT community. PPS
Well, I’m officially not the sharpest tool in the shed because I have no idea what Faye is up to. I mean, I can guess that she wants to give something huge to Bette and Tina, probably the print Bette sold when she had no j-o-b but other than the obvious I’m dying, I’m sorry, I’ma jackass with a ton of money, I’m drawing a blank. Besides you are way to clever for something as obtuse as that so I guess I’ll have to wait and see like everyone else. Besides I’m too depressed to ponder it any further tonight! LOL.
Man this story gets more intriquing with each chapter. I get the feeling that Faye is dying or just maybe Faye may end up being Bette’s mom (no just kidding). Something is definitely up here.
Maybe I need something as obvious as Blue’s Clues cos this is all a bit Where’s Waldo? for me… I haven’t a Scooby as to what Faye’s up to. But natch, I can’t wait to find out! Still don’t trust her, her motives, or her throwing money at anyone affiliated with a Porter to buy away her guilt. Anyway, I really liked the description of Bette As Driver… it rang so true. I don’t think Bette As Passenger exists, and if she does, she must be fearsome. Excellent as always, red. Thanks for the chapter.
faye better give that print back; i still don’t like the lady.
If this chapter was to let us know what Faye is up to, you still have be stumped. But, that ok, it just means I’ll have to wait to see the connection between Bette and Buckley and why Buckley bought the Kiki Smith print. More to look forward too. Thanks for the update and PPS.
Great writing as always, but Faye’s intentions are a mystery to me. I get very bad vibes from her though.
Good chapter and what the hell is Faye up now!
so faye has kiki smith print…what’s going on? what secret is she hiding?
I am completely hooked! PPS
I have no idea where this is going, but I can’t wait! PPS!
I think you really have the characters and writing so connected realistically and I am definitely gonna put my ff vote in for you next time. It seems to me that you know the show inside and out and I can understand every nuance to your situations. Gotta say the best series I’ve enjoyed so far…..keep up the good word and oh yeah don’t take your time!!!!
Can’t wait to see what’s next. Love B&T’s easy and loving banter. Thanks for the post :)
I’m anxious to see where you’re taking this story. What is up with Faye? Please post again soon!
WOW!!! I so can not wait to see where you take this. I am hooked, Thanks PPS
Hum, I have a little problem. I’m french and I have absolutely no idea of what “a nestled potted fawn” could mean. And the web translations are awful, so would someone please explain this to me. Because I feel I’m loosing a big part of the story here…
I had a feeling that Bette saw the print she used to own. Are Faye’s hands cold and clammy because she’s dying? Please, I need more! PPS!!
I have no idea what Faye is up to.. But can’t wait to find out. Love this story. Angie has great taste in watching Blue’s clues. I used to love watching that with my son. lol
The mystery (reformed Faye or evil-as-ever Faye?) deepens, leaving your readers more hooked than ever. The inventory of Bette’s driving habits was brilliant! Kendra, it’s spotted fawn.
Kendra35, the fawn thing is the Kiki Smith print that Bette sold. :) No idea what Faye is up to.
