Hard to Forget – Chapter 2
Bette sighed as she pulled up in front of the house she had spent so many hours during holidays from college. Tina’s parents always kept a nice house, a welcoming house…
She had only been back from her latest art acquisition trip for less than a month but she was ready to leave again. She had begged to be sent somewhere else to find more artists, find pieces that would be suitable for the gallery… It had been granted, she could leave in the next week if she wanted to, but deep down she knew she couldn’t ‘miss’ the wedding. She wasn’t sure if it was the wedding making her want to leave on the next plane or that she just wanted a change of scenery, West Hollywood could be so tiresome sometimes…
She would leave as soon as possible after ‘it’ was over though, she wasn’t sure her stomach could take much more of the rollercoaster ride it had already been on with this pending engagement and wedding…
How charming she was being about her friends happiness, was it because she didn’t ever have those sights as goals in her life, engagement and marriage…, white picket fence and 2.4 children…, so fucking suburbia. She preferred…, high life…, no commitments…, cosmopolitan…, singledom…, non-suburbia life…
She gave a wry smile to herself, she was stuck up and she knew it… Freedom and independence and she loved it…
She walked up the path to the Kennard house and took a deep breath.

Why had she answered the door to her ‘other’ friend last night, she had been avoiding her since she returned from her trip, but her mind was awry last night, thinking about Tina, about her engagement, about their time at college, about that night…
“Are you going? Have you been invited? Have you seen him…, he’s gorgeous? Are you taking anyone? Does she know you’re a lesbian?”
“Alice…, would step off the doorstep before you haul a barrage of questions at me please…”
“Oh, yeah sorry…, hi Bette.., how are you my lovely?” Alice said as she stepped into the apartment and kissed Bette’s cheek.
“I’m fine Al, how are you?”
“Well, it’s been too fucking long since you called me…, so I thought…”

They are going to “re-connect” aren’t they? Please….they so need to spend some alone time together to close the gap of time….and Bette should wear her Levis, white shirt and black leather jacket to the Planet meeting…..shut up driley…..just say thanks and move on…..
Somehow I knew that this story couldn’t be contained in 2 chapters only..and I am SO glad that it will be longer…now will our girls finally admit the truth when they see each other?..and the real question, will Bette be wearing Levi’s when she meets up with Tina tomorrow?!?! ;)
I think you need at least 50 chapters to write a great B&T story..you are off to a wonderful start. pps

Oh Wow…this is really good. I just read both chapters and now I’m hanging for the next one. Jo…I think it’s your turn now. You and Black are quite the team…you guys should partner more often!
So happy for this collaboration, you should do it more often, you do so well together. Loved this update and I do so hope they can let each other know just how much they love each other. Tina couldn’t possibly marry this guy if she still loves Bette and I think she does. To know that Bette never got her letters or calls makes a lot of difference in the feelings that have been put aside. Now she can find out how Bette really feels and she can tell Bette how much she cares. And of course, anyone that was counting the years, months and days apart cares a lot. That count is very telling. PPS
Hope they find out their disconnect was over wrong addresses and numbers, not because they wanted no contact. They really have some things to discuss! PPS I’m sooo hooked:)
I’m not sure why but the first thought that came to mind was: “I miss you (Tina and Bette) too.”

Wait a minute! Tina is LITERALLY counting the days since she saw Bette? And she’s going to marry a guy named Merv? Are there really guys named Merv? I’ve never met one and only heard of one, Merv Griffin: late band singer, talk show host, wealthy game show producer, and sometime escort to the equally late Eva Gabor. C’mon, who is Tina kidding? She has counted the days and she can’t face what Bette means to her? Silly girl.
I sure hope that the misunderstanding that both Bette and Tina experienced is resolved before the wedding bells toil. In other words, Bette and Tina belong together.
Ah, what an encounter this was! Guess both B&T have been lost in life. They certainly need to catch up. It seems Tina feels the same way Bette does. Hope they can come to terms and really talk about what they are avoiding. Perhaps Tina thought that there will be no interest from Bette, after having received silence during all these years apart. Ah, you both are making our hearts start beating faster, in anticipation of the face-to-face meeting the following day. You are doing a great job here! Thanks.
