“Yeah but come on, even good looking guys would have a complex being called ‘Merv’”
“She looks happy…” Alice said as she watched Tina, meeting members of her soon to be extended family.
Bette’s eyes watched the same scene as Alice did…, her thoughts contained an entirely different process…, she was remembering how she felt, how she smelled, how she tasted…
“Don’t you think?” Alice said as she nudged Bette from her thoughts.
“What.., oh…, yeah I guess she does.”
Tina turned, meeting the eyes she had missed looking into, she knew she was being watched, she could feel Bette’s eyes boring into her. She hadn’t comprehended how much impact it would have on her to see her today.
Bette gave a small smile, it was the least she could do, it hurt though. It hurt to smile at Tina when all she felt inside was her heart, slowly but surely stopping…

“Hey Alice…, where’s Bette?”
“Oh she left already…” Alice said as topped up her drink.
“Left?”
“Yeah…, said she some, I don’t know, meeting or something…”
“She couldn’t reschedule a fucking meeting to come to my engagement party?”
“Whoa…, TK…, she came, she just couldn’t stay that’s all…”
“I haven’t seen her in forever…, couldn’t she have done this one thing for me…?”
Alice looked at the flush creeping up Tina’s neck, an instant recognition of one of two things, passion or anger…
“Why are you in such a tizzy about it, don’t you have enough guests to entertain anyway? Catch up with her tomorrow before she leaves.”
“Tomorrow…, leaves…?”
“Sure, I think she has a late flight, she’ll have time in the morning, you know how organised she is, she will have packed already…”
“Alice, I’m not sure if you recall this or not…, I haven’t actually come face to face with Bette for over six years…”
“Actually, you said six years, five months and fourteen days…, that’s very precise counting Tina…, precise or sounds a little on the obsessive side…, you know a little…, teensy bit over dramatic on how long it is since you saw someone…, do you know how long it is since you saw me…”
“It’s not obsessional, she’s my friend, my best friend and I’ve missed her…, she should be here…”

They are going to “re-connect” aren’t they? Please….they so need to spend some alone time together to close the gap of time….and Bette should wear her Levis, white shirt and black leather jacket to the Planet meeting…..shut up driley…..just say thanks and move on…..
Somehow I knew that this story couldn’t be contained in 2 chapters only..and I am SO glad that it will be longer…now will our girls finally admit the truth when they see each other?..and the real question, will Bette be wearing Levi’s when she meets up with Tina tomorrow?!?! ;)
I think you need at least 50 chapters to write a great B&T story..you are off to a wonderful start. pps

Oh Wow…this is really good. I just read both chapters and now I’m hanging for the next one. Jo…I think it’s your turn now. You and Black are quite the team…you guys should partner more often!
So happy for this collaboration, you should do it more often, you do so well together. Loved this update and I do so hope they can let each other know just how much they love each other. Tina couldn’t possibly marry this guy if she still loves Bette and I think she does. To know that Bette never got her letters or calls makes a lot of difference in the feelings that have been put aside. Now she can find out how Bette really feels and she can tell Bette how much she cares. And of course, anyone that was counting the years, months and days apart cares a lot. That count is very telling. PPS
Hope they find out their disconnect was over wrong addresses and numbers, not because they wanted no contact. They really have some things to discuss! PPS I’m sooo hooked:)
I’m not sure why but the first thought that came to mind was: “I miss you (Tina and Bette) too.”

Wait a minute! Tina is LITERALLY counting the days since she saw Bette? And she’s going to marry a guy named Merv? Are there really guys named Merv? I’ve never met one and only heard of one, Merv Griffin: late band singer, talk show host, wealthy game show producer, and sometime escort to the equally late Eva Gabor. C’mon, who is Tina kidding? She has counted the days and she can’t face what Bette means to her? Silly girl.
I sure hope that the misunderstanding that both Bette and Tina experienced is resolved before the wedding bells toil. In other words, Bette and Tina belong together.
Ah, what an encounter this was! Guess both B&T have been lost in life. They certainly need to catch up. It seems Tina feels the same way Bette does. Hope they can come to terms and really talk about what they are avoiding. Perhaps Tina thought that there will be no interest from Bette, after having received silence during all these years apart. Ah, you both are making our hearts start beating faster, in anticipation of the face-to-face meeting the following day. You are doing a great job here! Thanks.
