It was around noon now and no body had said anything in a very long time. Dana had fallen asleep cuddled against Alice. This made Alice feel like she was needed. It made her feel like she was helping her very distraught friend.

Alice: Where are we going?

Shane: There Is a camp near the ocean that I own up in Northern Cali.

Alice: What do you think happend to Jo?

Shane: I don’t know but what I do know is we didn’t leave just because Dana needed to get out of the city.

Alice: Shane whats going on with you? I’ve never seen you this caring or scared?

Shane: I jsut feel really protective of Dana right now. I just thought that I could help her and then look at what happend. I let her go in there and talk to Jo. She almost died because of me. If I pressed charges when Jo did this to me then this never would have happend to Dana cause Jo would be in jail. I just thought that when I got off the streets that I would have gotten away from her. I use to see her every day after she raped me. I couldn’t deal with it. I didn’t want that to happen to Dana. I wanted her to know that she has me. I didn’t want her to lose it that is why I have been with her every minute since.

Alice: Wow Shane. I never thought that your life was that hard. I mean I knew that you worked the streets but, wow.

Dana was starting to wake up but kept her eyes shut and didn’t move.

Alice: So is that the only reason you’ve been all over Dana?

Shane: What are you talking about?

Alice: You know what I’m talking about. When she left that night with Jo you had a look in your eye and it wasn’t just being worried about her, you were jelous.

Shane: No, maybe, I don’t know. I can’t really think about the feelings I have right now I jsut have to make sure that she is okay. There is no way she would be able to deal with a relationship after what has happened to her.

They drove a little bit more. No one had known that Dana had heard everything that Shane had to say. She finally woke up growning because of her injuries.

Shane: Hey Dane you okay?

Dana: I don’t know I’m kinda out of it. Alice when did you get here?

Shane: Since we left her hosue about 7 hourse ago. But we’re going to pull into this rest stop up here and clean you up and see if we need to take you to the hospital.

About 20 minutes later Dana was laying down in the back of the truck with her shirt off so that Shane could clean the wounds on her stomach. Alice was working on the gash on her leg.

Shane: These don’t look to deep. I’ve got some bandages in my truck I’m going to get them. How does the cut on her leg look?

Alice: She lost a lot of blood so it makes sense that she was out of it. I think a bandage would be fine.

Dana: I’, glad I have you guys. It means a lot to me that you two are taking care of me.

Shane sat next to her putting the bandge on her stomach and giving one to Al. She moved the hair out of her face.

Shane: Do you really think I would let you bleed to death in that bathroom?

Dana sat up with tears in her eyes and hugged Shane with all her might. Shane looked at Alice.

Shane: *mouthing* I do like her, a lot.

Alice: *mouthing* I knew it.

After they were all patched up and back in the truck Dana finally found out where they were heading.

Shane: Yeah I use to own it with a couple of people but they sold it to someone else. I still own my share though so it’s not like we are breaking and entering. I haven’t been up there in years. It’s not much farther.

When they pulled up to the camp they were amazed that Shane owned part of soemthing so beautiful. There was another car there.

Shane: I guess the other owner is here. I guess now would be as good a time to meet them as any. Dana do you need help getting inside?

Dana: Yeah that would be great.

Alice: I’ll take on side you take the other.

They were helping Dana limp inside and then they came face to face with the other owner.

Dana: Lara?

Shane: *****.
