Bette and Francesca returned from the Birth Center at around five thirty in the evening. Douglas was preparing dinner and told them it would be served at seven. Francesca went to her room to take a nap while Bette went for a swim in the pool.
They’d had a great visit at the Birth Center. They made reservations for the anticipated due date but booked an extra day before and one after in case the baby came earlier or later than expected. They had a couple more prenatal visits scheduled with Dr. Wilson and if everything continued to progress well with the pregnancy they had her blessings to go through with the natural birth.

Bette was finishing up her laps in the pool when she heard her cell phone ringing. She’d left it on a table near the pool so she wouldn’t miss Tina’s call. She got out of the water to answer it but when she looked at the caller ID it was Sam not Tina’s name that came up.
“Hey Sam how are you?”
“I’m doing great how about yourself?”
“I’m doing great too although I’m a little surprised to hear from you today. Didn’t you say Sunday was family day?”
“It is. I am with Jen and Diana in San Diego. I just called to tell you I had a change of plans. I won’t be in the office on Monday.”
“When will you be back?”
“I’ll be home late tomorrow evening. Diana and I drove down this morning to spend the day at Sea World but Jen talked us into spending the night. She wants to go to the zoo tomorrow.”
“It doesn’t sound like she had to do too much persuading.”
“Not at all. I love the San Diego Zoo and it’s even more fun seeing it from a three year olds’ perspective.”
“Yeah. I can’t wait until Alex is old enough to enjoy stuff like that. Hey I appreciate you calling to let me know. Should I call you on Tuesday then?”
“Actually I have a few minutes while Diana and Jen get ready for dinner. I have my Blackberry with me so if you have time we can look at schedules now and set something up.”
“Sure. I just need to go to my bedroom so I can look at my calendar. I was taking a swim in the pool.”

Thank u for this chapter. I know that they still have a long way ahead of them and for sure they still have to strengthen their relationship for the future problems that they have to face but I am just happy that they have already taken the baby steps and they have already kissed. Yipee!

I really liked that a lot. you did really good for my romantic heart. ;)
at the beginning, Sam and Bette meets for lunch, for me it seems as a date. but I’m glad that Bette could alleviate Tina’s jealousy. It was a sweet moment between them on the beach. This was the first step in their lives and still have a long journey ahead of them, but at least moving together.
I’m looking forward to the next one.
Great post BAT. Yay!!! Finally we have positive movement between them and it was great. Bette may not consider this meeting with Sam as a date but, I can assure Bette that Sam considers it a date. Sam has already expressed interest in Bette and Tina knows that because she knows Sam a lot better than Bette and Sam admitted as much to Tina. Like Tina said, “why else would Sam interrupt her family time to call Bette,” rather than wait until Monday when she was back home, that would have been enough time to contact Bette. “Houston, I think we have a problem.” Hopefully, Bette will have sense enough to see through Sams’ machinations. Bette always seems to think other people don’t have ulterior motives because she doesn’t think that way and she doesn’t think others will do such. Well, open your eyes Bette and watch what happens.

Yes, yes, yes. BTW, I am jealous of their (Bette’s) lifestyle. She is living large. Nice to have good friends in really high places. PPS.
Bette and Tina together, now we build trust, complicity
partnership, friendship and love … it’s a long way to go because the obstacles difficulties that will arise in their way, and they have to be prepared
to overcome.
