    Her Guardian – Chapter 10

Tina calls Dana and manages to explain what’s happened.  Dana offers to take her, but she tells Dana that Bette is going with her.  “Call me if you need anything.”  Dana hangs up.

Tina puts her head in her hands and sobs again.  Sam goes to Tina and sits right at her feet.  He tilts his head and looks at her a moment.  Then Sam places his head on her knees and looks up at her.

Bette has been standing in the doorway watching the scene before her.  Sam has already formed a connection with her.  Just like me.

Tina knows Sam is trying to comfort her and she pets his head.  Then she leans down to put her arms around his neck.  “Thanks Sam.”

Bette carries their bags to her jeep and returns for Tina.  “You ready sweetheart?”  She offers Tina her hand.

Tina takes her hand and gets up off the couch.  She’s moving in slow motion and seems lost.  “Come on Tina,” Bette takes her by the hand and leads her outside.

They’ve been driving for thirty minutes.  No conversation has taken place.  Bette, the always prepared and practical one, has Tina’s phone on the charger, water bottles in the cup holder and the GPS activated.  Tina is holding onto Bette’s hand like it’s her lifeline.  “Do you need anything T?”

Tina answers, “No.”  She looks over to Bette, “Thank you for being here with me.”

“I wouldn’t be anywhere else,” Bette smiles at her.

An hour later they arrive at the ER.  They walk inside and check with the nurses to get Tina’s condition.  They are directed to his room, still in the ER.  Bette stands at the door and tells Tina, “You go in and check on them.  I’ll be right out here.”

Bette goes to the waiting room.  She didn’t think this was the best way to meet the parents.  She calls Shane and Alice just to let them know where she is and what’s going on.

Meanwhile in the ER room, Tina walks in and sees her mom on the chair next to dad’s bed.  Her mother looks up and rushes to her.  “Honey, I’m sorry to scare you like that.”

    1. Perfect update! I know accepting parents are not always the case, but it’s so nice to find them in the stories here and there! Hospital scenes can be so stressful that I was prepared for any number of reactions from Tina’s mother… love the one you chose. PPS!

    2. Glad that it was only an anxiety and not a heart attack. I love how Tina’s mom accepts not only Tina’s love for women but her acceptance of Bette.

    3. Bette certainly has gained more points with Tina’s mom! That was so nice for Bette to drop everything and take her GF to the ER. But of course we wouldnt have expected anything different……Now are you teasing us with the anticipated romantic evening these two women are going to have EVENTUALLY? LOL…..Thanks for the great chapter

    4. It’s GREAT that Bette stood by Tina and didn’t lay back and let Dana do it. I was hoping that she would ask Shane or Alice to go by and feed Sam ifd she didn’t get back that evening. I wounder if Dad will be as easy as Mom has been with B&T’s relationship. PPS:o).
