The morning of Bette’s appointment …
Bette is already awake and making breakfast for Tina.
Tina enters the kitchen. “Ok, I’ll be back at 10am to pick you up for your appointment.”
“T, you really don’t have to take off from work. I can go by myself.”
“I’ll be here at 10am.” She kisses Bette. “What’s for breakfast?”
“Your favorite.”
Tina hesitates. “Chocolate chip pancakes?”
“Yes, I called your mom and got her recipe.”
“I love you,” as Tina kisses her again.
“I know.”
Tina sits down to enjoy her pancakes.
“Yummmm. These are great Bette.”
“Glad you like them. Anything to make you happy …”
“You make me happy,” Tina leans in for a quick kiss.
Bette’s appointment goes well and she is released back to full duty. She noticed that it seemed like Tina was trying to convince the doctor that she wasn’t ready. We’ll talk about it tonight.
Tina drops Bette off at her house and goes back to work.
Bette drives to the base and turns in her release, anxious to get back to work. She is put on the schedule for the next day. She stops by to see Shane and say hi. Then she heads for home.
Hey babe! I’m back to work tomorrow. So tonight at your place or mine? Love you. – Swimmer1
It takes a while for a response. She must be busy Bette decides.
How about my place? I’ll cook tonight. – Tina
Sure thing. What time? – Swimmer1
Come over any time after 4pm. – Tina
Ok. See you soon. – Swimmer1
Tina’s afternoon flies by too quickly. She’s not ready for this conversation with Bette. What am I gonna do? I don’t know how much more I can take?
Tina is at her place, preparing dinner. Bette shows up at about 5pm and can tell that something is wrong. “T, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
“Babe, I can tell something is bothering you. What is it?”
“Let’s have dinner first, then we’ll talk ok.”
“Sure.” Bette kisses her on the cheek and pulls her into a hug.

In todays real world you might kiss your love one good=bye and not see them again. Police,Fireman,a drive on the road,postal worker,clerk in a store. or soldier. f your Gf—BF husband-wife. Has a job that they love but dangeries,Them they try to change there career, Then the drama starts, I hope that everyone before they leave for work or just leaves the house.tells their love that they do love them. thanks
Tina was a little harsh on Bette. I’m sure she’s very scared, but they need to talk it over. Bette can only change for herself and not just because Tina can’t handle it. Love this story! Thanks for posting!
I so just caught up. I saw that comming. Tina needs to really think about what she said and did to Bette. Bette’s job is a big part of her life and Tina knows this. Thank you Great Chapter!!! PPS
Wow that was so real! While Tina has a point about the job being dangerous and it could be the last time she sees her walk out the door, the same is true in everyday life, you just don’t know if it could be the last time you see someone you love, that’s why you need to cherish the time you do have together! Hopefully Bette can make her see that, or Dana or Shane or Kit…the list can go on if need be, just let them get through it! I mean every relationship has drama, plus it makes for a good story too! PPS I can’t get enough:)
oke didn’t see that coming! is this how it goes in the film? hmm bad film.. please let them be together again! i totally see tina’s point, but it’s bette’s favorite sport, work and a huge part of her life! i know they are gonna make it just fine, right?? thanks for posting again :)
Great update – it would not be a good story without some drama. It is hard to be with someone with a high risk job – but when you love someone you have to decide what you will and will not accept – and what someone does for a living is part of them. I can’t wait to see how they work this out! PPS – great story by the way – way better than the movie!
Interesting twist. Hoping Tina doesn’t turn out to be the hysterical type 24/7!
ultimatums, here we go changing the ppl we supposedly love.
I know that Tina is worried about Bette but if she really loves her she is going to have get ahold of this thing. This is the job that Bette was ment to do and Tina needs to realise that no matter what job a person has there is a potential to suffer harm (though Bette’s job may have a higher risk) so being afraid for her is normal but she cant let it rule thier relationship or she may lose Bette. PS
I had a feeling that was going to happen. I just don’t want anything to happen to Bette and hope Tina can figure it out. pps
That’s bordering on emotional blackmail.I understand Tina fears,but I don’t believe they are justify. It doesn’t matter the job, there is always a certain amount of risk that come with it:just crossing the road is taking a risk.The most one can do is prepared for the worst,hope for the best,and love and appreciate the ones you hold dear to you every second you get.Please let them talk!….uh,did Tina ever get back her bikini?

Very interesting. Fear and anxiety can make you lose your mind and your very last nerve. You can’t change anyone to what you want them to be or what you want them to do. Everyone is an individual and must do what is best for themselves. PPS
