    Hindsight – Chapter 8

    Hindsight – Chapter 8

    Main Entry: hindsight
    Pronunciation: ‘hIn(d)-"sIt
    Function: noun

Meaning:  understanding the nature of an event after it has happened

"Hindsight is always better than foresight"

I watched her walk to the kitchen after our uncomfortable moment; I took a deep breath as I walked to the lounge, carrying Angelica in my arms, her gurgling noises bringing my mind to the moment.

I sat down and sighed, this was harder than I ever imagined, last night watching over her was hard, watching her and Angelica sleep beside one another.  It had brought my emotions to the fore, the emotions I had been hiding, ignoring, trying not to think about, but this morning was a completely different matter, this morning was a mountain of emotions to climb.

The words that had been thrown at me by Kit were deserved, I knew that, I didn’t profess to be an innocent party in the decline of our partnership or the decline of the health and well being of Bette Porter, I knew my actions were what had brought her to her knees, brought her to the edge of existence, and that was something I was deeply ashamed of, I never believed I could be capable of such an act of emotional depravity of keeping her daughter away from her.

I’m not yet sure whether it was the fact of just Angelica not being part of her life or our partnership ending that had brought her to her lowest ebb.  I need to be honest with myself, I can’t hide it anymore, I can’t ignore it anymore, I have to be honest with not only her, but myself too…

And in being honest it would be that the decline in our relationship was the start of her emotional decline, and that I exacerbated that decline by keeping Angelica away from her.  I honestly didn’t think she would sink this low, so low as to contemplate those three bottles of pills last night, the pills I had flushed down the toilet last night, along with all the other pills I had left behind when I left the place that used to be my home.

    1. OMG what a cliffy!!! You better post reeeeeaaaaally soon, how about lunch time tomorrow?? Big overlap, loved that….and I can’t wait to hear T’s response. I hope she will think before speaking, something she haven’t done in the last chapters. Great work Jo xx

    2. yes! now the ball is in Tina’s court and i hope that she will honest with Bette, they can heal up together. Good thing that you work doesn’t keep you busy

    3. It is powerful and painful to watch these two try and work out some of what is going on in their heads. I know that Bette still loves Tina beyond anything in this world and my guess is that Tina has also come to that conclusion. Where do they go from here and is there a chance that they can work out the relationship that I feel in my heart they want with each other?

    4. I’m not sure how Tina should answer that last line. If she says she didn’t miss Bette, then we all know that’s a lie. If she says she DID miss Bette, Bette could explode and ask why the hell she stayed gone for so long.

    5. the last line just reminds me of season 3 when bette said the same thing and tina just began talking about angelica…i can’t wait to see her reply in the next chapter…thank you

    6. I’ve read all your stories and every single one is wonderful. You seem to write with a poetic nerve that most people can only dream of achieving. You get a ton of well-deserved praise through these comments… so this one may seem redundant. Still, I don’t think we can celebrate your writing enough – therefore, thanks for another great chapter. I think you capture the diversity of Tina and Bette’s perspectives in a very elegant way. Please post soon…

    7. Gosh you’re good jo. I wonder if you know it? Another excellent and heart- wrenching, yet somehow comforting chapter. So much emotions in your written words, kinda scary actually. I’m beginning to feel a bit for Tina. I think she now realizes the pain she’s caused with her actions, and wants Bette to forgive her. I forgive her Now.I honestly don’t think she ever stopped loving bette, but perhaps she tried to stop loving her and just couldn’t. So much love there, and it so obvious. I wonder what Tina’s response will be to hearing bette say those words? Please post soon.
