    Bette and Tina work toward healing from the opening night of Provocations.

    Chapter 22

    Bette and Tina drove through the streets of West Hollywood with relative ease, thankful that rush hour traffic hadn’t kicked into full gear, making it easy for Bette to drive quickly home and avoid most of it altogether.

    As Bette stopped at a light on the familiar route to her house, she chanced a glance in Tina’s direction.   Tina had allowed her head to rest comfortably against the headrest, her eyes closed, but her hands clenched into fists.

    “You need to relax,” Bette said softly as she laid her hand on Tina’s clenched fists.  “We’ll figure it out.”

    “Sorry,” Tina turned and opened her eyes to look at Bette.  “I should be able to handle this better.”

    “Nobody can blame you.  I don’t think I would be handling any of this as professionally as you are if I was the one that was responsible for creating a screenplay of our life.”

    Tina remained silent as Bette once again started the journey toward her house.  The familiar setting, once a comfort to Tina, now seemed to further escalate the tension residing in her neck knowing what they both were about to face.

    When Bette pulled into her driveway and shut the car off, she looked over at Tina questioningly given she hadn’t made any effort to exit the car.

    “What’s going on?”

    “It makes it more real,” Tina whispered as tears formed in her eyes.  “Being here, with you, talking about that night makes it all a little too raw for me.”

    “We can go somewhere else,” Bette offered.  “I wanted some privacy because I knew it would be hard for you, and at least here you won’t have Kate or Aaron hunting you down for leaving early.”

    “True,” Tina offered.  “Aaron doesn’t know where you live and I think Kate may be slightly afraid of you.”

    “She has every reason to be,” Bette winked as a smile formed on Tina’s face.  “Let’s go inside and we can have a glass of wine to settle our nerves before we start.”

    Tina followed Bette’s lead and approached the house, knowing her hands were shaking, and trying to disguise it by shoving them in her pockets.  Bette opened the door and allowed Tina to enter the house first, watching her hesitantly stand in the entranceway.

    10. Woah. Loved this one..and not just because it had a great sex scene in it. I really showed how much Bette had changed since S1.. in positive ways. Also, it showed Tina really acknowledging those changes. Their connection in this chapter was really beautiful. Thanks for helping us get through one more night. Hopefully we will have a rash of inspired writers for next week.

    14. Now that is true love. As I was reading this chapter it dawned on me that they had not made love in the bedroom since that night. Then as I continued to read you mentioned that issue. I am glad that they reconnected in their bedroom and were able to work through most of what had taken place that one night several years earlier. Awesome chapter.

    16. That was AMAZING! It was sizzling hot and loving! I am so happy that Bette and Tina have truly found a way to reconnect through all the terrible memories and not self-destruct. Bette is SHOWING Tina how truly important she is in Bette’s life and it is beautiful to read. I am looking forward to more.

    31. Wow Gumby, that was an awesomely beautiful and loving chapter. With Bette wanting to help Tina with the rewrite of the most tragic part of their breakup on the night of Provocations shows how much Bette has changed and how the still loves Tina so very much. They have managed to experience all the horrors a relationship or marriage could possibly and still manage to love each other beyond belief. You have portrayed those feelings most eloquently. Like everyone else I can hardly wait for tonight’s episode. I hope they don’t disappoint us. In your writings regarding “our girls,” you have never disappointed us. So happy that you love our girls but you also show the negative elements in a relationship but you never fail to show us how those things can be overcome with love, understanding, and respect for the other person which is so important. In short I loved this chapter and the story completely. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. PPS

    36. thank you so much for your wonderful writing. As I was reading this agian, after last nights epi, I was thinking of Alice’s statement, ..”sometimes love is not enough”. That can be true, but if you want to rebuild again, what is a better foundation to start with? I love how this comes through your story, yeah it will be hard, but they have a true and awesome love, that will get them through. When Tina asks to be f@#%ked, and Bette says no I’ll make love to you..to me that showed me, the true depth of their love. Thanks, you rock…PPS

    37. Hey Gumby, Wow wee Bow wee. I am stunned and entranced by these latest developments. Bette and Tina making new memories to extinguish the horrors of the past was so realistic and adorable. The passion between these gals is intense as the liqor freed them both of some of their earth inhibitions. There was real tenderness and love between them. The past cannot be forgotten but closure with its events may be acheived. This scene showed how. Gumby, your talent and gift for creating powerful moments was perfectly exhibited here. Thank you so much for this inspiring chapter. I so hope that this is the next step along the route to full reconciliation for my favorite couple. Bette and Tina so belong together.
