The cops arrived and were welcomed with lots of armed men, there were men running everywhere and shooting at anything, Bette opened a back door and went inside followed by her mother, she was about to open another door when she heard a loud bang followed by another and then another, she felt herself being pushed by someone and fell down a flight of stairs, before landing she was able to see the person who pushed her, Maxine, her mother, her chest all covered in blood lying on the floor, she couldn’t move, Bette felt like hit by another bus, she wanted to get up and run towards her mother, she placed her hand on the floor and tried to get up failing a couple of times, just when she was about to give up she heard another round of gunshots and she pushed with all her might, Tina was here, she had to find her, her father was also here.

She managed to go up the stairs and kneeled next to her mother, “Leave” Maxine said in a whisper, “I didn’t push you out of the way so you would come back” Bette smiled a bit, tears running down her cheeks.

“OH Mom!” she hugged her tight against her chest and cried, “I love you” Maxine whispered in her ear. “Go now” she said closing her eyes.

“I love you too” Bette said letting go of her mother’s body and holding her hand, Maxine’s eyes were already closed and Bette didn’t want to leave her side, she tightened her grip and cried harder, the gunshots were still going, she could hear yelling and loud bangings.

Bette finally let go of her mother’s hand and kissed her forehead, “I’m sorry Mom”, with that she stood up and started walking the opposite way from the noises, she walked as fast as her body would let her, she was sore from the fall and her left hand was grabbing her ribs. Bette felt scared, she had lost her mother, she didn’t know about her father and she had absolutely no clue of where she would find her wife. She kept walking, hoping she was headed in the right direction, all the noise was behind her, it felt like the background of a horror movie, screaming, gunshots, police sirens and her walking down a lonely hallway, crying the death of her mother, clutching her ribs and hoping to find her wife and father ok.
